A large room at the very heart of the castle, this is where the dragon eggs are kept. Apart from the entire garrison of the palace that must be negotiated before even getting this far, the doors are guarded by a squad of five elite soldiers in the day or night, and the doors themselves cannot be opened unless the lead soldier wills it, a ward placed by Galbatorix himself. Anyone who enters must first swear an oath in the ancient language not to reveal what they have seen, in order to keep the information out of Varden hands. Behind the pearl-inlaid doors, one is faced with a high, vaulted chamber constructed of polished black stone, lit by bracketed red torches. Dotting the room are raised stone plinths, upon which rest the dragon eggs themselves, their colors almost incongruous amid the gloom.
