Name: Galbatorix
Age: 136
Race: Human
Appearance: With warm brown eyes, sparse hair, and a kindly voice, Galbatorix is the gentleman you expect to meet while having cookies and milk with his wife. When talking to him, you expect a fairly weak voice, but his voice is strong, the one booming out bawdy jokes in a bar, or telling how he beat that Urgal with his bare hands. Except, as King of Alagaesia, he doesn't need to kill it, he has an Empire for that. At five feet seven inches, Galbatorix is the average height for his Empire, but he usually wears boots with extend able heels, one of his inventions.
A man who likes the color green, Galbatorix invariably manages to get green in everything he wears, to the frustration and anger of his wardrobe advisers. To cover his baldness, Galbatorix wears green bowler hats, no matter the time of day, or whether or not his clothing goes with it. As the King, Galbatorix has let himself go with the food, so he's kind of porky. His ability to grow a beard has not been affected by his dabbling with different types of magic, so his beard goes down to his protruding stomach, and it's pure white. His sword is whatever color he wants that day, as he has a large store of Rider swords and Eldunaria, thus, a large amount of power stored in the jewels on the swords and in the Eldunaria.
Many sleepless nights have left his warm brown eyes bloodshot, with large bags under them. While continuing to maintain his vigorous lifestyle, he draws on the energy stored in the Eldunaria and jewels in the Rider swords.
Personality: Very friendly towards servants, slaves, and soldiers that have done good jobs, Galbatorix has a nice word for them, and generally a reward. While despairing about the situation his Empire is in currently, he sinks into black moods and rants and swears endlessly, in the Ancient Language and in English. While in his depressed state, he often looks northwest, towards where his original dragon died. When Galbatorix is out on the partying scene, he's light, fun to be with, and a great dancer. Alternating between these two moods, he's either in a killer rage, or baking cookies for the prisoners. When doing none of those things, he enjoys deepening the arse print on his throne.
He's very prideful and vain, not able to stand being corrected, unless it's by his favorite scientist. Generally ignoring his advisers, he rules the Empire based on his every whim.
History: Born in the ancient province of Inzilbêth, Galbatorix was accepted into the ranks of the Dragon Riders at the age of ten after being traditionally tested for great potential. He quickly excelled in all areas of combat and spellcasting, which fueled him with pride and vanity. Soon after finishing his training, Galbatorix and his friends went into the far North, into Urgal territory, assuming their powers would protect them. Camping on an iceberg one night, his friends, their dragons, and his dragon were all killed. Exacting a terrible vengeance upon the killers, Galbatorix then made his way south, back to civilized lands. Eventually, he began to hope that the Riders would grant him a new dragon. Finally, making it to the outer edge of the Spine, he was found near death by a farmer that contacted the Riders.
Once he had recovered sufficiently, he stood before the Elder Riders and demanded that they grant him a new dragon, but Oromis saw the madness in him and persuaded the other Elders to deny his request. This effectively drove Galbatorix further into insanity and hatred. His mind became twisted by the previous events until he came, in his grief and rage, to believe that it was the Riders' fault that his dragon had died. Having firmly convinced himself of this, he plotted his eventual revenge.
In secret, he started learning dark magic, possibly under the tutelage of a Shade. Finding a Rider sympathetic to his cause, Galbatorix convinced the Rider to lure an Elder out to be assassinated. As they completed the deed, Galbatorix turned upon his ally and beheaded him, then stole his dragon's Eldunari. Spending several years bending it to his will, Galbatorix had to evade Riders for the first part of that time. Eventually succeeding, he then made contact with Morzan, turning the weak-minded individual towards his purposes. Together, they captured Shruikan, then with more black magic, they bonded him to Galbatorix.(Man, this guy sure does dig the dark magic, doesn't he?) Besides Morzan, twelve Riders and dragons flocked to his banner, out of power lust, greed, or some slight.
The Thirteen became known as the Forsworn, and waged unrestricted war against the Riders, Elves, and Dwarves. They killed Riders, dragons, and eggs, then proceeded to find and destroy Vrael. Turning towards the capital of the Human lands, they killed the rightful King and then crowned Galbatorix King. As he cemented his dominance over the Eldunaria, Surda seceded from the Empire. Emerging forty years later, he brutally campaigned to reassert his dominance over the land.
