At long last, Ra'quden reached his destination. Long hours of searching brought him here. How many murders had he committed to get the this very place. Many tried to resist and deny him the information, but they all broke down and went mad. Few saw the power Ra'quden held and didn't resist. they too died, screaming at their tormentor. Ra'qudens body shivered uncontrollably with the thought of what he was going to do. Looking at the door, the last door in his way. He steeled himself up. A elf, of all things, had once told him that his emotions went wild and controlled his power. After that, he needed to be more careful. He didn't like critics.
Pushing the door out of his way, Ra'quden strolled into the dark room. Dark, for a human. Nevertheless, he could see oval shapes clearly. Finally, after a very long time, he could have his revenge on the world. Mostly against the elves, but also against the Varden. "REVENGE IS MINE!" shouted the elf. Torches blazed, announcing his presence to the dragons lying in slumber
The room, looked vastly empty. No eggs. No hatchlings. No nothing. Only a very startled servant sweeping the round vases on the ground. Ra'quden couldn't figure out who was more stunned, the servant or himself. Mulling over a thought in his head, he realized that his last informant must have survived long enough to tell the city where Ra'quden was. His evidence, the guards pouring into the room for the door on his immediate left. listing in his head the many options, The demented elf chose the easiest route, running.
Behind him, orders and curses followed his fleeing steps. Above the clatter of swords and breastplates, one voice rang clear through the musty air. "Stop, we aren't here to kill you" Slowing to a stop, he turned around, "you are not?"
"No, we saw what you did and the king thinks that any man, or elf in your case is worthy to serve the empire."
"Hmmmmm, well, I will swear fealty to the empire if you lead me to the egg chamber"
"Done" replied the captain.
Walking to the room, Ra'quden inwardly smiled. Fools. He lost track of how many oaths he had broken. But still, fighting for the empire had its advantages. He would always have a job. Finally they reached the egg room.
"Stay here" commanded the captain to the other soldiers
Walking into the egg chamber, Ra'quden felt his pulse quicken. With a dragon by his side, he could be unstoppable. The Varden, the elves, and any other threat to him would tremble before his might. Walking up to a egg, Ra'quden stretched out his hand. Maybe he was intrigued by the color, or maybe it was fate that caused his hand to reach for that egg.....
