Name: Lissa Atines
Age: 63 but looks 24
Race: Elvin
Appearance:
Lissa has a natural beauty about her. She has long brown hair which is usually up in a fancy ponytail for convenience. Her eyes are a brilliant green and show all of her emotions–when she wants them too. She is easy to read when she wants to be, but knows how to mask her emotions when needed. She has a slender body with curves in the right places that are made to catch a man’s attention easily. Lis is usually found in a pair of sturdy pants with chain mail around the calves as well as a sheer black top with white undershirt. It is made of a material that is easy to transfer from water to land easily and has a number of that shirt in many colours. She also wears arm plates to protect her bare skin, but only when out in public. When on land, Lissa carries around a long bow as well as a magically enhanced cinquedea. Like a boomerang, it always returns to the holder. Using magically invisible ‘thread’ she can throw her blade and with a slight flick of her wrists, bring it back. This feature is used for long distance fighting. It is also used for hand combat.
Her tail is a pale grey shade that shimmers a faint silver colour when in the light and at certain angles in the water. She has grey, iridescent flippers at the end of her tail that she shaped to allow her to swim fluidly in the water. She is relatively tall for an elf but would stand at about 6’-10” if you were to measure from the bottom of her tail to the top of her head.
Personality:
Lissa is a very cheerful person. She is able to make people smile and likes to enjoy herself. She has a very open heart and is compassionate. Lissa can be very patient; depending on the matter at hand. She likes to smile as much as she can and will try to brighten someone’s mood if she feels like it. Even though she has a very open and bright personality, she will try to hide things from people if it threatens her well being. The open air about her may sometimes throw someone off when trying to figure her out.
She can speak out of turn at times; having a strong will. Lissa believes in what she thinks is right. If she had the choice of dying or going against what she believed, she would rather die. And if she was challenged about one of her beliefs, she would defy and talk back to whomever had challenged her. Though it tends to get her in trouble a lot of the time, she doesn’t care.
Lissa enjoys being praised, as it makes her feel like she is needed. Lissa is a firm believer in fate and true love, though she doubts that she will ever find something like that. In such a cruel and misplaced world, love is just not a possibility any more.
History:
Lissa’s parents were from rather established families. Her father, Alef, was an Imperial officer while her mother, Eileen, was a from a well-known Elvin family. It was an arranged marriage from both of their parents. He was thrilled but she was not. Eileen's parents and family had good connections to the Empire and were in favour of it, hence, their decision to marry their daughter off to a high-ranking officer was the best in their minds. Eileen on the other hand had no desire to be in favour of the Empire, but was at the will of her parents' hands. After her marriage to Alef, her belongings and such were shipped off to Dras-Leona where her new husband lived. The idea of being tied down to the Imperial system and the city appalled her, better yet, his living style was the worst for her to adapt to. However, she was not allowed to leave the marriage and soon gave birth to Lissa. Her father had hoped for a son to take after him and follow him into the Imperial army; he had even thought that if he had a girl, he could convince her to join. Nevertheless, fate had a different idea and Lissa was born paralyzed from the waist down. It was a sad thing to accept, her father wouldn’t look at her for the longest time. Eventually time passed and Lissa wanted nothing but to walk, swim and dance, like a regular child. The only way that was going to happen, was with magic.
Lissa had always been enchanted by far away stories about creatures that didn’t exist, women who lived under water, and beings that could grant wishes. But what got her the most was living under water, like a fish. She was determined that when she was able to walk, she would give herself the ability to live underwater if she so chose. It was around that time that her father died in a battle. Even without close relations to him, he was still her father and she couldn’t handle the fact of never seeing him again. It was also around that time that her mother died. They left her with all of their possessions, enough to support her for many years. She also had houses in Silthrim, where her mother had lived, as well as the main house in Dras-Leona. But no matter what had been left to her, the incidents that happened affected her wants and hopes. She tried harder to learn her magic faster. However far fetched her dreams seemed to be, she was never willing to give up her ability to walk on land. That was, the only reason she didn’t become a fish; she didn’t want to abandon the place that her parents belonged to.
After learning all the magic she needed, Lis finally decided on how she was going to do this. She had decided to use magic on her legs to grant her the ability to walk, but added a catch. She would gain gills on her hips and a fish’s tail whenever she entered large bodies of water. It was the best of both worlds for her. She was able to leave the water and gain her legs back, but she could also escape if need be, into the cold, watery depths of her dreams.
Lissa is currently very active, trying to find work and possibly use connections to find work. The thought of joining the Imperial army never crossed her mind, no matter how much her father had wanted it, and she would rather not be a “prize” for a husband to stow away and take out to show off. She wanted to find earnest work and survive on her own. Until she can find stable work, she passes her time in the lakes either near her homes, or travelling back and forth between her estate in Silthrim and Dras-Leona.
