Groggily, I awoke on the bottom of the cliff. Huh, how in the world did I get down here? Immediately, images flashed through my mind, the elf, Cyne Kes, and the tumble down a cliff. Wincing and shaking my head, I sat up, or rather, tried to sit up. Somehow, my leg didn't act in the way I wanted it to. Glancing down at my leg, I fought the rising panic in my gut, broken. Of all the bloody luck this could have happened.
Surveying my options, I reached over and grabbed my spear. A workable crutch. Well, the only thing to do now is to figure out what in the world I am going to do. I had no idea where the elf was or where she was going. Well, it was his responsibility to save her, but he also wanted to stuff Cyne down a body sack and roast him over a fire. I should have never compared his mother to a pig. Well what was done is done. Thank the light that the storm was over and done with. I fervently wished that I could pick up the trail.
Revenge is so sweet sometimes when you work at it.

Uru'baen had been a fun ride but now She was done here she had came here to spy on the Empire and now she would focus on nothing but to get back to the Varden. She had spelled herself to look human to her this was pointless she did not see how humans could not see through her disguise, but it was what it was. It was not that it was a weak spell its just it did not mask her Elven Presence and Erie beauty. Melissa was re-energized and ready to leave.
The gate guards let her through without question. They told her to be careful of the war and warned her of areas not to go near. She smiled and nodded. Keeping her mind fortified she would shatter anyone's focus if they tried to scry her mind.
She noticed a regiment of fifty men she figured it was a new batch of those men with no pain. She could kill them all with a single phrase but she would risk being detected she had decided to ignore them and be on her way. As soon as she got out of eye shot of the gate guard she took off in a dead run through the plains.
She soon came to an area where small hills rolled through the plains sometimes creating cliffs although they were not extremely high a fall could potentially be lethal. She took off at a run again this time she could feel the presence of someone she was coming up on.
as she came over a hill she noticed a man at the bottom that seemed confused, pissed off, and hurt. He was a human and did not appear the be a soldier of the Empire. It really was not in her nature to help people especially humans. Maybe this was someone she could train to fight and teach a little magic to and then initiate him into the battlemages of the Varden. the idea excited Melissa.
Melissa jump down the cliff with ease did not care if he noticed her. "Hello there sir is there anyway I can help you." She said trying to be nice and this was not her style at all.

Well, so speak the devil. Here I was, hoping that I could get a rescue, and a revenge, without a hitch and here was a lady, leaping off a cliff like some bloody hero in a bloody fairy story. Well, things could be worse, my own mother couldn't recognize me. Blood coated my face and my leg was twisted out of shape. My coat, once black, turned a muddy brown. My makeshift shelter only heightened the illusion that I was some hobo. My leg throbbed with pain. I will be feeling this for days to come. This was only the icing on the cake of suffering. First was the bout in the kings army. Then the hail, rough mistreatment, and life in general. When I get my hands on Cyne Kes, I will make him dread the day his father ever laid eyes on his mother.
The lady in front of me looked quite amuses, and somewhat impatient. What did she say? Oh yes, a word of concern spoken through clenched teeth. "Well, if you aren't a elf or a magician, then no". Elf. ha. There are no elves around here, only empire rats. Well, this lady could be one, because of her flare for theatrics. Of course, who am I to judge, never saw an elf, never will. All except for the one, whom he was trying to save. A part of him questioned why he was doing this, but revenge always triumphed. The lady just smiled. Why. Oh yes, there was steel in her. I wonder what side she is on. The Imperial slugs or the Varden rats. Come to think of it, they really aren't rats, defying the king for all those years.
She walked forward, looking distantly at my spear. No asking if she could come in. My camp wasn't spectacular, but a man needed some space to call his own. "You may come in" She looked greatly amused. Humph. She didn't look like she would no civility if it bit her on the nose. My shelter received a frown and a sniff. The body of a once proper imperial guard got a raised eyebrow and a hidden smile. Reaching me she frowned down at my leg. For a second, I had a flashback to my mother frowning at my much younger injuries. Skinned knees and broken teeth.

She looked into his questioning eyes and looked into his very soul she could see he was hell bent on revenge she had also scryed his mind and read his questioning gaze. but the questions he was thinking she would not answer.
She walked up to him saying "Alias fur voeruson" this relaxed his mind into a deep slumber so he could not feel anything. grabbed his broken leg and with magic broke it and reset it then mended the bone back together the right way so that he would not get infected and it would no longer cripple him. She then repeated the phrase again in a different tone so he would wake up.
She really did not give a rats ass if he wanted her there or not. If she cared she would never have entered. She was different that most elfs. She had little to no regard toward life. She faught for freedom because it was a cause in her opinion more honorable than anything. Her life was her own and no one else would take that from her or live it for her.
Being a battle mage for the varden and the elfs mean she had to kill alot. This had made her cold and uncaring for those she did not know. "So your bent on revenge I am telling you that is not a path worth going down. Hatred and being unforgiving is a poison that will inevitably kill you." She said with such coldness in her voice it could freeze a dwarf.
"I would like to offer you a proposition. There are human that can use magic. would you like to learn magic?" Melissa asked amuzed by what his answer might be.

Breaking out had been a lot easier than she had originally planned. It turned out that the "Cyne Kes" whose name had been mentioned, had not been expecting her to stage a coup without using magic as a weapon. She used it to break the bindings, but not to fight. With her elven reflexes, she had quickly dispatched his two guards and then used pressure points to knock him unconscious. He wouldn't be getting up anytime soon. She ran, approximately five kilometers back to the cliff where they had been. At most it was three hundred feet, at the least it was two hundred. She looked at the rock and moved away from where the two figures were, climbing down the wall like a spider. The rapid descent gave way to a rolling landing on the ground before she walked towards the two, nodding her head to the other elf.
Andraste had always been the quiet one, but now it was her chance to keep her own secrets hidden from the other two. She was not going to abandon her trade, not yet anyways. She was almost done with her apprenticeship, and it was something she did not want to give up for the life of her.
Secrecy was everything, and no one person was to be trusted.

Well, great. First the chick made my leg go numb, then a pop, then my leg was better. Amazed, I looked at it. Unbroken, unblemished skin appeared before me. It was like it wasn't my leg at all. Then the lady started answering most of the questions in my head. Revenge not worth it? The words coming out wi9th that cold tone was almost laughable. She didn't believe in revenge, but she could chew rocks with that look. Elves. She must have been. the magic, the jumping for large heights, and
"I would like to offer you a proposition. There are humans that can use magic. Would you like to learn magic?" said the elf. She must be an elf. Eh, whats this? learn magic. That thought never occurred to me. I looked down at my hands, worn with use of the spear. With magic, i could be almost invincible. None would stand before me. But, that would make life so boring. When i told her that, she seemed appalled at a life without magic. Elves.
She seemed okay with the answer, maybe a bit pissed off. Well, more ant a bit. As we were climbing up the cliff, a familiar face appeared. Andraste!!? What was she doing here? "Did you kill him?" I said, breathlessly. Well, that was the important part. I wanted to kill that man. She seemed amused and, after nodding to the other elf, replied, "No" Well said. Weary, I sank into the earth. Even if my leg was healed, I was tired to the bone.
This elf seemed to be once again amused. Probably thinking how weak humans were. Shes never been around humans before? Both of them? Wait, there was her master. Who was it again. Yes, the swordsmith. Interesting. I wondered if he needed help. Well, I don't know who the other elf was, so I better keep it to myself.
As we sat and talked about little things, I realized that we needed to get going. There was still the price on my head. Cyne kes was still after me. I really should never have killed that many people in the empire.
