The beautiful land of Du Weldenvarden held a mystery about it during the cold winter months. The snow was never too deep, but it held such a beauty and it held the sounds of the beautiful songs that the elves sang. The forest was a song and no one every stopped to listen to it until it was too late in there lives to do so. The trees stood strong and did nothing but stand there, being mighty and holding a wonderful beauty about them. The trees were not bare like many trees were this time of year, the elves of the forest sang to them, keeping them strong and alive during these cold winter months. Many were walking outside, holding cloaks around there shoulders as they moved towards there homes and sang to the trees as they cleaned around the home.
She watched from her window, her emerald eyes searched the window and then she turned back towards her couch and set down on the soft leaves that she had sung together years ago. She pulled the wooden cup to her lips, taking a sip of the hot cider that she had made from scratch. Her body was different from most elves, she held a black pelt over her body, she honestly looked like a wolf, her ears were pointed forwards and she could move them back like a wolf could. She looked around for just a moment and sang a little, the fire licking at the logs she had found and brought into the home. She had a fire place meant for warmth and she held it as a prized possession.
She stood, moving outside and pulling the cloak over her shoulder and smiling when she grabbed the second cloak, the thick black cloak made of wolves pelt and then shut her door and ran. She went past the fence she had sung and out into the deep woods, the sound of howls coming from the deep Forest of Du Weldenvarden. She howled back and stopped just as the wolves came into view. Before her was a carcass, the one they had just killed for the meal and she smiled. She held many things that were different and one was she ate meat like wolves, sometimes raw and sometimes cooked. She moved past the wolves, growling at a few younger ones and then bowing her head low to the alpha before she was allowed to dig in. The warm meat felt wonderful in her mouth and she loved it.

"Travel to the Varden?" He said to himself contemplating this new thouhgt for a second he had no idea where it had came from but all he knew was it was there and he needed to think about it, afterall up until recent;ley had he been in the middle of battles with others of his kind. The humans were no math for them, in speed and strength, and the little magic they had was easily pushed away by an Elf. One thing that compelled him to travel to the varden was the promise of riders, riders who could help advance his knowledge of magic so he could use it against Galbatorix and his minions. Though he felt things were changing and that soon the traitorus userper will be cased down and everyone will be happy once more. He had no idea what he will do after the war. He was a magician and a warrior. Onec again the tall and graceful Elf was traveling through the forest of Du Weldenvarden he wore a brwn travelers cloak which was worn and tierd from years of use across Alagesia, he had worn this when he went traveling through the Hadradac Desert. Although he believed nothing bad would come to him he had his ancesteral sword with him by his side. It was only just trailing along the forezen floor as he walked through the seemingly endless forest. He had begun to grow his hair and it was slightlt longer than usual. He heard the howl of a Wolf and then another and another. He had always admired Wolves and decided to go to them. He would not interefere but just study them to see what he could find out about the beings he shared the reatest forest in the world with.
He followed the clear signs of a wolf until he came across, a rather large, pack. It was clear who the Alpha was he seemed to be bosing the others about and everyone showed him respect, plus he was the tallest and looked to be the strongest, certinly the most ferocious. Soon he saw an Elf she had changed her aperance to resemble a Wolf but she was still an Elf. When she entered the fray and began to eat he felt sickened. How could she do that. All Elves had been in the head of prey animals and knew how precious life was to them. He stepped out of the shadow. The Wolves began to bar their teeth and growl.

She had smelt the elf many feet away, her body did no tense and she continued to eat the prey that had been given by her pack. She growled to her Alpha who growled back, his eyes closed on her own pools and he seemed to understand everything that was going on. She was like a Alphaess here, but he would never breed to her, she was a elf and higher then he was. The true alphaess was looking at her and seemed to understand what was going on.
The sound of the growls caught her ears and she took her own wolf stand between them and the Elf, her growls were easily heard and they back away, the Alpha growling and leading them back to the prey and eating the lush, bloody meat that came from the large deer they had killed. She stood, her full height of the elf that was before her and she looked at the elf in the eye.
"Can I help you, Elf?" Her voice was angelic, it was beautiful, it was wonderful, at least to the human men who heard her speak before they saw that she was a wolf. They took the sent of her pine tree, water brooke smell that came from her body and left the men trembling in dear love that they wanted to give to her. She rejected everyone who came to court her, she did not care for love, she wanted to live and that was what she did. She lived with the wolves, for the wolves, and was part of them. "I bet I can figure what you are thinking... Why is she doing as the wolves?" She said nothing more and looked at him, her face set like that of a wolf for the most part, but her snout was not nearly as long.

The Elf stood there as if he was a stone statue who had been made centuries ago.He could not understand why she was doing? He had never met an Elf who ate meat as they all had felt the presence of life that only one of his own kin could. If he told the truth he felt quite sick watching the show, he knew Wolves needed to eat meat to survive, it was a fact of their existence no getting around it or lying about it it just was what they did. And he could not blame them for that, as he would not blame a Dragon for the same thing, but the Elves were different. They did not need meat to survive. No living animal needed to die so they could survive and now here was one of his own gorging int the rotten carcass of another poor animal. If it was just her he would of incinerated the carcass and let it rest in peace but such an act would be unfair on the Wolves.
Her apperance did not shock him as he had seen many Elves alter their apperance to fit their idea of beauty, he himself had never felt the need to change his apperance so drasticly and the most he had done was make himself appear to be human when he was in the empire, however he understood why they did it. Asgar looked at the animal and soon realized it had once been a mighty stag. He imagined how majestic and wonderful he must of been as he surveyed his land. He had always had a soft spot for such animals. He never understood why but all he kenw was prey animals held a certain place in his heart and he did everything he could to protect them. He wondered if the Elf had killed the animal herself and if she had did she use a weapon, for some reason it seemed that it was unlikely.
" You call me an Elf as if you were not one your self. You may take the apperance of the Wolf but you are still one of my kin. We share a history and suffering. " His voice was almost as soft as hers. It was a common trait among his people. " You are correct. I do not question why you stay around them, they are magnificent. But I do not understand why you eat meat. We have no need to make another suffer so we can survive. Have you never felt the mind of a deer or a rabbit. Have you never sensed how much they value life and in equal measure fear death?"

She just stood there, the winter snow at her feet fluttered as she felt the small puppy at her feet come, growling at the presence of the other before she growled softly back and picked the young child up into her arms and felt his soft tongue move over her snout and she nuzzled him back and allowed her soft emerald eyes to grace his blue ones. She placed the young wolf down who went back to his mother and then she turned her head back to the elf before her. She had felt the animals around her with as just as much ease as the other before her, but she honestly knew that she was more wild then any elf in the area, she had grown with them, she had hunted and had learned learn the way of the wolf, she honestly felt that all non-hunting animals were prey and all hunting animal had a reason to live while the others had energy she could use and she used it.
She knew that her appearance shooked no one, only the humans of the Varden were shocked and scared when they first saw her. She gained there trust quickly though, it was easy to see when the children ran to her wanting to play with her. She could hear and smell the meat being ripped from the bone, the sweet smell of raw meat was something saw was missing, but she soon felt the emotion of the Alpha change, growling as the last of the meat was beginning to show, telling the others to leave some for the young and also some for her, because she had not had much. She growled back to him, saying to let the young have her share.
She allowed her eyes to look over the almost gone Stag and smiled, the beautiful creature had been very magnificant, it was a shame that it had to be the meal of many wolves in the forest and herself. She smiled a little before she turned her eyes back on the elf. She had not killed the strong animal, but how she wished she had been part of the great and might hunt that had gone down, it would have been a wonderful thing, she would have been able to be with her family.
"You call me an Elf as if you were not one your self. You may take the apperance of the Wolf but you are still one of my kin. We share a history and suffering," She nodded in agreement, but he had forgotten that all the animals in this forest had gone into suffer just as they had. She looked at him, her eyes, the emerald colored like the trees.
"Yes, a Elf I am, but I am wild like the wind, I am a wolf by appearance and I have been made a high ranking in there pack from my years of being a part of this pack," She said to him, her eyes landing on another young pup who held in his mouth a piece of meat but she growled sweetly to him and he just ran back to the pack and finished his eating.
"You are correct. I do not question why you stay around them, they are magnificent. But I do not understand why you eat meat. We have no need to make another suffer so we can survive. Have you never felt the mind of a deer or a rabbit. Have you never sensed how much they value life and in equal measure fear death?" She had been asked the question many times, she honestly had no reason to hunt these beast, she just enjoyed the hunt, she enjoyed the prize of food after the hunt.
"I have felt the many emotions from the prey in which I par take in as hunt these animals and it sadness me that I could not of been part of this hunt, but I share in the meal because I have grown with them, I starve with them when they can not eat because of the time of year when prey is hard to come by," She said to him, knowing that her answer would possible just bring more questions. "I know what they fear, but I have lived with them most my life, I grew in these forest and I treasure something more elves here do not have... My wildness, my want for the hunt like that of a wolf... These animals, the prey, they offer energy that elves can use and each prey that I hunt I take that energy and store it into the gem that my dead father gave to me..." Her father, it was something she never mentioned and here she had spoke of him. He was a might man, a maker of boats, a sailor and a loving man. He had fought the empire, he had died because of a soldier who killed him from behind, she had slained that soldier and many others like the wolf she was, using her need to kill the one thing that drove her.

Asgar looked up to the sky above him it was usually a light blue but today the heavnes were blocked from his view by the falling snow. It was a stunning sight and it was no shock that winter was without a doubt his favorite season and that he preferred the cold to the heat. He gently moved the snow from around his feet until he had made a small circle that revealed the brown dirt below. Nothing grew underneath the snow and few things grew during the winter without the help of the Elves and their planting spells. He preferred plants to other sentient, he did not no why but he had never been someone who liked to talk to others and at least trees could not disagree with him. He turned his back on the Wolf pack and the female Elf until he saw a small fallen log. It was, like everything else in the forest, dusted with a coat of snow. Asgar whispered something in the ancient language and the snow flew off the log and fell on the floor. With the snow gone he turned once more to face the Wolf Pack. He walked backwards and lowered himself onto the circular log. It was not very comfortable but it was better than standing. He examined the pack closer and was able to count two pups, though he was sure their was more hidden around the carcass feeding with the rest of it's family. The wind blew in his direction and brought with him the smell of the meat. It was not rotten but the smell of meat, cooked or raw, made Asgar feel ill. He coughed when it reached him and placed a finger over his nostrils for a second before he adjusted to the smell. He wondered what the female Elf would think of him for being affected by the smell, though it did not bother Asgar as he was not interested in what she thought of him. He saw the small pup walk up to her. At first he thought she was going to push the young one away but she shocked him when she picked him up and Cradled him in her arms. He smiled as she nuzzled him with her snout. It then dawned on him how much she had integrated into the pack, how much she meant to them and visa versa. He found it fascinating how she conversed with them. He could understand what most animals said though that was due to his magical training, but the only way he could converse with them was through the ancient language and even then the animal could not understand what he meant but what he felt. He could tell an animal he would not harm it in the ancient language and it would fly to him but he could not actually talk with them, and give them instructions. The Alpha grew and the frenzied eating began to subside Asgar wondered if he had ordered them to leave it for himself but when the female elf growled he seemed to let the younger of the pack feed. He wondered if he would ever be so close to an animal. He stood up from his make shift seat and began to walk toward the female elf. He did not move in a manor that would show he wanted to harm anyone but when he got to close to the female elf the Alpha turned around and began to bark at him. He bared his teeth and in seconds another male joined him in the growl. Although Asgar was sure he could subdue them if they attacked, afterall he could use magic and they could not, and if it came to it a single word could kill a Wolf he knew the Alpha thought of this land as his and he respected that. Slowly he retreated a few steps though the two Wolves still kept their gaze firmly locked on Asgar. He turned to the Elf and smiled before saying. " It seem's they are very protective of you. I did not mean you any harm." Although he did not find her attractive due to her Wolf form he found her emerald eyes to be entrancing. They were called by humans as the gateway to the soul and although Asgar did not belive such a thing existed he could see why they did, he thought he was able to see what she was thinking when he saw her eyes sparkle. They were more wolf than Elf but were still brilliant, like the emerald stone in the pommel of his sword where he had stored energy for years. " It is obvious to me that you are highly regarded by the rest of the pack and from watching the way you act with the pup's it seem's to me they mean as much to you as my family did to me, maybe you count them as your family. I have never been so close to an animal, nevermind as many as are here, and I admire you for how close you are. It is obvious to me that we will not agree on the meat subject, so let us forget it." He walked closer to her. " I am Asgar."

She had allowed her thoughts to move to her father with the many moments of silence, the sound of the pups eating was soothing for her and she found herself watching them for a few moments, the adults, her brothers and sisters, seated away from the dead beast, watching the young with graceful pools before the alpha stood, his growl moving from his might chest and his eyes landing on the elf before her. She also saw another wolf, her brother, the eldest besides the alpha stand and moved towards her. She turned her own eyes on the male, her body was not stiff though and with gentle growls, her pack back away.
She knew quickly the elf could easily kill her pack, but he would have to to go through her first and that much she would protect them with her life. She watched him moved back, his feet moved with grace, for if she had done that she would have not been nearly as graceful to a elf... She was more accustomed to walk on all fours and not on two feet. She looked at the Alpha and her brother, their gaze locked on him before she turned her head back to him.
" It seem's they are very protective of you. I did not mean you any harm." She allowed her eyes to show the wildness that formed from her body, the wolf like that came from her and moved with her through the years. She did not know what he saw in her eyes, but she smiled at the statement of the protection.
"You are right, they are my protectors as I am their's," She said to him, allowing her eyes to travel over him, checking for the weapons which she normally held in her eyes quickly. She saw the emerald stone that was in his sword and then turned her eyes back to him as he spoke.
It is obvious to me that we will not agree on the meat subject, so let us forget it." She smiled, he was right, this was her family, besides her mother who was at home somewhere in the garden, possible going through numerous flowers to make sure all survived this great and might winter. She smiled as she glanced at her family, the puppies were now playing and having a fun time. " I am Asgar."
"I am Tasia," She said with a smile, happy to have met someone who did not lecture her on her meat like diet. "And just so you know, I only eat with them when I want to, other then that, I am with my mother eating her home grown salad." She said to him with a smile, allowing her to give a sly smile before she looked over her shoulder at the sound of the two pups fighting.

Although he would never admit it he found the pups to be rather adorable he loved to see the young of any species running and playing, especially when they were near an adult of their kin and you could truly see the difference, he wondered if it was because of how rare children where in Elven society and how far most Elves would go to protect them even if they were not their own by blood. He watched the Wolves approach him and was almost preparing for an attack when Tasia made some low growl like noises and they backed away, he would of loved to of been able to understand her and wondered if she would teach him the language she was so adapt at that she could have full conversations with her Wolf kin. The snow was picking up and Asgar predicted it would soon become a blizzard, such things were common this far north and most Elves had learned to live with it, and all though he knew he would survive it in his warm tree-top home his mind went to the younger pups and if they would survive the soon to come storm. He hoped, for one of the few times in his life, that he was wrong and the weather would stay how it was and nothing would come to the young pups. He was sure most animals did not give birth in the winter but it was not as if the Wolves could choose when they had their children, though he was sure it was strange for the Wolves to give birth this late but he was no expert and he could be wrong. He wondered how much time the Elf spent with others of her same Species, after all nothing could replace the conversation between to wise Elves, he was sure she walked more on all fours than on her hind legs as she seemed clumsy when she stood. Not overly slow and he was sure she moved with a grace beyond the humans but less so than other Elves. However for all he knew she spent most of her time on her all fours and her hind legs were used rarely. He wondered for the first time since meeting her what animal he would mimic if he had the wish. The first animal that came into his mind was the forest cat. In his mind they were very much like an Elf. They were beautiful, Loyal and most importantly moved with a grace almost equal to himself. However he decided that he would want something without fur. He was very knowledgeable in the art of magic and decided it would be best to take the attributed from many animals. The eyes of a mountain hawk, The Gills of a fish (While still retaining his lungs), The legs of a wolf and who knew what else. He saw her eyes travel to his sword. He moved his hand with blinding speed and in a split second, and after a screeching sound, his sword was in his hand. It was a plain hand and a half blade but the most magnificent part of it was the emerald in the pommel. It was about the size of a clenched fist and glistened with an amazing brightness when the moon light hit it. He held it as if he was going to attack until he realized what he had done. He lowered his sword until it was scrapping the ground. He moved the sword in the air and looked it over as he spoke. " It was my fathers, and his fathers before him, the sword is ancient. The Emerald was traded by my grandfather from the Dwarves, you can imagine how much they demanded for it, and since then we have stored energy in it." He held it out for her to examine it in her own hands. He listened as she began to speak about her mother. " You do not have to justify your diet to me, I was a little shocked at first. How long have you lived with the Wolves?"

Tasia
She looked at her family, they had settled more then enough to turn her back on them, she could trust them to listen to her, she knew that. She had grown around them all her life, she had watched them grow, the alpha had been merely a pup many years before and now he was the mightest wolf in this one pack. She knew that not many elves like herself could communicate with a wolf like she did, she had learn it after many years of study and after many years of living and transforming into one of them.
She felt the chill of the land cover her body, even if it was covered with the cloak made of Wolf pelt that had been given to her by the wolves when others died. She had been graced with it and she had sung it together. She could feel the Blizzard coming closer to these lands, the adults were all standing now, allowing the pups to finish their meal before a few moved away. Tasia knew they were the two scouts of the pack, checking for danger before another set of wolves went to check the dens and then return for the pack and moved them home. These pups had been born in the middle of summer, they were strong, she knew these, but they should of been born in the spring, but they had been late and she had helped with the delivery.
"Those two should of been born in Spring, but they came in the middle of summer," She could not help but speak about the two children she loved so much. She turned her body, her legs moved with the grace but still, she did not enjoy being on her legs, she just liked to be on all four legs, it was easier to travel and much faster. She watched and listened to the voices of the wolves, allowing herself to remember the sound of her own mother's voice speaking with her early in the morning. She missed talking to her already, but she was not one for speaking to other elves unless they had a good conversation to begin. She walked over to the dear stag, her hand moving to the other side and grabbing the dagger she had dropped on the ground and placing it in the holder that was on her hip. She was not carrying her sword, it had been hung on a tree to stay off the ground.
She returned back to him, his hand moving to his sword with such speed she was surprised at him. The sound she had heard many times when she was in battle and she watched him move, she did not move though, she did not have to, she just watched him. The beautiful stone in the pommel made her tilt her head slightly and she looked at it. It was a beautiful stone and she smiled at it, watching him as the wolves turned there head, a few growls were heard, but she just glanced back, a smile graced her lips, her teeth were even as sharp as the wolves she lived with. She heard the air split as he moved the sword was grace through the air and then spoke.
"It was my fathers, and his fathers before him, the sword is ancient. The Emerald was traded by my grandfather from the Dwarves, you can imagine how much they demanded for it, and since then we have stored energy in it." He said to her as she took the blade from his hands and held it with her own hand, holding it with the firm grip that showed her hand was use to a weapon. " You do not have to justify your diet to me, I was a little shocked at first. How long have you lived with the Wolves?" She glanced over at him and handed the blade back to him and turned to the tree that held her own blade and pulled it from it's own cover.
"Many Years... Since I was young and still considered a child to the elven people... My mother and father helped me with the change, they knew my heart was with wolves and they helped me... My father went and had this blade made for me," She pulled her hand over the blade, allowing him to see the pommel of the blade which was pure silver and held the ice blue stone in the eye of the wolf head that was howling. The tone was large, but it was embedded into the silver metal, interlacing the eyes and teeth and even went into the stone. "The stone was sung into place. It is large, hidden by the metal and allowing it to shape into the teeth and eyes and even the fur a little." She said before she pulled her dagger. "The same with my dagger. I have a sword and two daggers, all holding a ice blue stone and the magic of my father."
