Name: Silvian (he is sometimes nicknamed Silva for shortness)
Age: 28
Race: Shade
Appearance:
Extremely pale and thin, Silvian's features are extensively sharp and angular. He is approximately six foot four and has an almost sharp lankiness to him. His frame and features are extremely symmetrical and defined. His arms and legs are of average proportion for a human, but by the shear thinness of them, they look a lot longer than they really are.
The most prominent feature of his visage is his overly domineering forehead and his sharp green cat-like eyes. His jaw bone is set a fraction of a degree to the right from a blow to the jaw that never healed even with magic. His hair is sharp black and comes to a tie at the back of his neck which extends down another five inches or so.
He normally wears a formal black suit with white undershirt and black boots giving him somewhat of a professional appearance. However, when on the move, he tends to wear less formal clothes that include just a black tunic and dark pants.
He has a black ring on his left ring finger but it has no mount or any form of a gem on it.
Personality:
Although it is not a feature that can adequately be expressed, Silvian is dark in nature and sits obscurely between two extreme personalities that he shifts between from time to time.
The first personality is calm, very articulate, and sly in nature. He uses this as his dominant persona for the most part. He will tell people what they want to hear and manipulate them to get what he wants. He uses very relaxed terms and honorifics while in this state, and he tends to tie people down by their own emotions. He will even fake that he has full human emotions in order to get those around him to trust him.
The second personality is more cold than the first. During the time that this personality appears, Silvian tends to be borderline on mute for the most part and relies solely on himself to get things done. He tends to act more than speak yet he is not impulsive and will wait days for his chance at things to work out in the way he plans.
During both states, Silvian finds personal enjoyment in making people suffer and will sometimes ask people if they want to play a "game" more or less meaning that he wants to kill them and have fun doing it. His games consist mainly of "who can kill who the fastest?" "find the town and burn it."and random card games that turns out far more deadly than it sounds.
History:
Born and raised in the city of Teirm, Silvian was unaware of any magical gift that he possessed. However, his father was a prominent botanist healer in the city and wished to bestow this as a future occupation for his son. Leaning more towards a job as a craftsman, Silvian became an apprentice of a skilled local craftsman. However, Silvian lacked any sort of skill in the art and soon found himself frustrated. Forced to return to his father's occupation, Silvian took up work somewhat in a depressed manner. This started a five year old internship.
At around the age of fourteen, becoming frustrated with his somewhat monotonous work, Silvian released magic for the first time as he wished for the work to be done and initially causing him to faint for a day and a half. Waking up to extreme scrutiny from his father, Silvian later learned that his father was a magician who preferred to stay hidden under the general appearance of a healer. Demanding and being denied training in magic, Silvian ran away from home to pursue his trials and errors in learning magic.
Finding his son at the edge of death from exhaustion, Silvian's father found that he had no choice but to teach his son in order to keep him from experimenting and in the end killing himself. For the first time in his life, Silvian found something exhilarating, and he became more and more demanding of his father's knowledge.
At the age of eighteen, Silvian found that he had learned all that his father knew of the ancient language and magic. With an unquenchable thirst for power, Silvian left home against his father's pleas and went in search of power. Eventually, Silvian's desires brought him towards Galbatorix.... Well, not truly in front of him, and yet all the same, Silvian began to believe somewhere in his mind that Galbatorix would lead him to greater power yet to be discovered. However, Silvian stayed far off and wanted to be able to prove himself first.
The quest for power drove Silvian to discover dark magic, and soon enough, he started experimenting with summoning spirits. However, eight months after this experimenting, Silvian was overtaken fully by a spirit and became a Shade.
Suddenly losing interest in Galbatorix, Silvian left off on his own again to pursue his own goals that as of yet are unknown.

Roleplaying example:
Ren walked into Ricks in a good mood. He had been promoted to head mechanic and gotten a nice bonus off of it. As he came in, several of the other guys waved from their places under or around other cars. Ren smirked as he passed the cars that were in the shop. Ford Trucks, Corvets, Volvos Lamberginis, PT Cruzers, red cars, blue cars, black cars, white cars, all of these cars were lined up and being either fixed or modified. He smirked walking passed them all. The smells of the cars being worked on rang through the area in plumes, and the clanging of metal on metal made almost a musical of sounds.
Ren laughed to himself and walked over to the car he had been working on for nearly a week now. It was a beautiful black Jaguar with a silver flamed finish on the sides. The car itself was reasonably easy to work on, but the engine was complicated. It took time to be able to fix a piece of art such as that, and Ren was careful and meticulous with it.
"Saber are you seriously still workin' on that thing?" one of the other guys called over. It was a joke among the guys that worked at the mechanics shop that ever since Ren had been promoted, he'd worked slower and less hours. Of course it as simply a joke to laugh about since they all knew Ren spent more and more time in the shop. Being head mechanic allowed Ren to work on the extremely nice cars that came into the shop, and Ren loved it.
"Ya I am," Ren answered as he got down on a rolling cart and slid under the car. It was exactly as he had left it, and Ren was glad that he wouldn't have to remove anyone's teeth for it. The owner of the car had specified that it only be worked on by Ren, and when it came, the car was in such bad shape it was nearly heart breaking. However, only a few days later, Ren had almost finished. After he had fixed up the engine back to normal, Ren had slowed down his labor intensity and began to be more gentle with the car.
There was a roll of laughter from the other guys who knew exactly what Ren was doing. It was obvious to some of the older men there that Ren was talking his time fixing the car. However, none of them knew about Ren's auto thefts in the past and never bothered to think that he would.
Ren checked everything under the car and then moved on to a last inspection of the engine. Finding the car up to his standards, Ren smirked and then put the hood down. Walking around the car, Ren opened the door and slid inside. The leather seats were comfortable and easily took the form of Ren's back and shoulders. A guy who was working on a Ford not too far away looked up at him and smirked.
"Now don't play that like it's your car man. Dreamin' only makes ya hurt in the end when ya see the baby leave the shop," the man said shaking his head. Ren ignored him and then pulled out the keys that the owner had left with him. The man continued to watch him with a steady eye. "Now you're seriously not gonna drive that thing are you?" he asked.
Ren looked at the man, grinned, slid out of the car, and closed the door. "Just wanted to see how it felt," he answered shaking his head a bit. "You can't blame me for that and you know it."
The man laughed and then went back to working. Ren continued to eye the car. I haven't stolen a car in a while..... he thought to himself as his hand almost seemed to raise itself and then glide over the car door window......If i was caught.. I'd lose this car and probably wind up in jail.... but....
Ren took his hand off the car and reached in his back pocket. Taking out a cigarette, Ren stuck it in his mouth and lit it. Closing the lighter and breathing out, Ren went back to work on the car. It was almost finished, and yet Ren somehow managed to find fault with things and fix it again. It is a nice car.... Ren thought to himself. And well.....
Ren looked up at the clock and found that it was already late. He had fifteen other cars to check the progress and/or work on, and it was almost noon already. Ren backed up away from the Jaguar and went to work on the other cars. There were several cars that caught his eye, but Ren worked them all in the same fashion unlike the way he worked on the Jaguar. There was something about that car that he couldn't help but want.
Time seemed to jump, and it was seven at night before Ren returned to the Jaguar. It was still there almost seeming to wait for him. Ren eyed it and then looked around calmly as if he were simply looking for someone else. There was no one around. Ren returned his attention back to the car. It was still there... still there.... One Joy Ride... won't hurt.... crossed Ren's mind, and before he could think of anything else, Ren was climbing into the car, taking out the key, and starting the engine.
The car moved fluidly and easily as Ren pulled it out of the mechanic garage. The slope of the incline plane almost felt like nothing as Ren drove down it. Even the bumps seemed to fade away. Ren smirked to himself and then as he reached the street, he pressed down on the accelerator. The car seemed to explode in speed and rushed forwards. However there was no turgor with this. The car moved perfectly as it roamed the street. Ren pushed farther and farther down on the accelerator, and the car yielded to his wishes.
"SWEETTT!!!!!!" Ren yelled as he continued to push the steel beast to move faster and faster. All the scenery seemed to peal away into one immense blur, and all Ren could think about was pushing the accelerator farther and farther down on the floor. This is exactly what I needed! Ren thought to himself. I've been too mixed up lately. I just needed to hit the gas peddle and go for it. Ren couldn't help but grin at himself. Just a damn good joy ride!
