Dragons are only available through the Destiny Boards.
Name: Alaeyr
Age: Newly Hatched.
Race: Dragon
Appearance:
When Alaeyr hatched, he emerged with a sticky membrane covering his body. Once it was removed, his body was shown. Alaeyr's scales range from an extremely dark gray, almost blackish, on his back and the back of his head, going down to the end of his tail. However underneath his jaw, and on his belly, the scales get lighter, and acquire a softer look.
Alaeyr's feet each have three claws, deadly sharp and filed to points. His legs are small, not yet completely muscled, but all in due time. Scales align his tail, which can make footholds when he gets bigger. His body is still small, weighing only about 30 or 40 pounds, and only coming up to Endorin's hip when standing. His wingspan has not yet reached its fullest, and so far he can only glide with them. They are transparent and covered in dark blue veins. If you look through them, you can only see a muddled image of whatever you are looking at.
Alaeyr has a thin neck, and a small head, which goes with his slight figure. His fangs are still small, yet sharp nonetheless. His snout is like a canine, and extends outwards. Alaeyr's eyes are a stormy dark gray, the color in between his darker scales and his lighter scales. They don't usually show emotion, but remain blank.
When Alaeyr would become older, his body would still retain its small and agile frame, easier for him to doge opponents and maneuver easily, yet limiting his strength. His wings get bigger, allowing him to fly longer and faster. His fangs would become longer, curling down from his lip into view.
Personality:
Alaeyr is extremely hard to read, and even Endorin has a hard time reading his emotions. To describe Alaeyr as a funny is an overstatement, but to describe him as a serious dragon with no sense of humor would be an understatement.
Alaeyr is not happy with the position he and Endorin are in. He despises the fact they are bound to Galbatorix, and disobeys his orders whenever the opportunity presents itself. This eliminates some of the humor that could have been present in his life. However that doesn't mean he can't take a joke. Being with Endorin always causes Alaeyr to be happier, and the thought of losing Endorin would certainly cause Alaeyr to die from the grief of losing his other half.
Alaeyr's political views are a bit harder. Yes he despises Galbatorix for his eradication of the dragons, and the Empire he has created. But, Alaeyr thinks he has a sound system with his Empire, and can't help but respect Galbatorix for what he's done. On the other hand, Alaeyr would welcome the opportunity to join the Varden in a second. He doesn't like the turmoil the varden is causing in the Empire, but believes it to be for a good cause.
Alaeyr's social side is almost even more complicated then his political views. He is an extremely polite person to his uppers, but sometimes finds it amusing to toy with the people under him. Alaeyr shares Endorin's distaste for Murtagh, but finds Thorn a role model of some sorts. Both Endorin and Alaeyr despise Za'lyyr and his new dragon, Jekarta. Both willingly serve the Empire, while Endorin and Alaeyr rebel. This mixture of emotions of hating your own ally causes grief for Galbatorix, who once again has to maintain control over his subjects.
Whereas Endorin is rash and careless, Alaeyr is the logical thinker of the pair. He thinks out the solution to every possible route, and tries convincing Endorin not to go the way he wants to. That, however, is a challenge in itself, and Alaeyr can rarely change his mind.
History:
Alaeyr's parents were Pythios and Samaela. Pythios was a rider's dragon and Samaela was a wild dragon. Pythios met Samaela when he was with his rider, and they bred later. Samaela gave two eggs to the riders, Alaeyr and an egg that was smashed by Galbatorix during the Fall.
Pythios are his rider, Kiena, fought valiantly but were one of the first killed. Samaela fled far south, and was never seen again. One of the riders, knowing that Galbatorix was coming to lay siege to the riders, hid some of the eggs. Alaeyr was one of those eggs. There, he awaited for many years, with no comfort or company.
When Eragon arrived with Saphira, Alaeyr felt hope again that he, along with his race, would be saved. But then Murtagh arrived, and Alaeyr was stolen, along with other dragons like Salmissra, Jekarta, and Kaldr. Alaeyr once again felt despair, hoping that one of the Imperials would not be the one he would choose.
And that was how it was. None of the children from the Empire were his. For over a year, kids came from all over the Empire to touch the eggs, but none were right for him. And then he watched as Kaldr hatched, and then Salmissra, and then Jekarta. And then, Endorin came.
Alaeyr remembered the turmoil in the boy's mind when he touched his egg. It was distant, and the mixture of emotions within such a young boy surprised him. Searching through his memories he saw what he needed to, and felt it was his time. This was the rider he wanted.
The next day, Alaeyr hatched, much to the surprise of the guards. Galbatorix himself was summoned, along with a select few like Pele, Schrren, and Malandra. Endorin was summoned, and brought forth to where they were holding Alaeyr. Alaeyr will never forget the look across his rider's face. Surprise, pleasure, fear, and another host of emotions went across his face. Alaeyr only cocked his head, brushing his mind to Endorin's.
After that was a precession of oaths sworn in the ancient language. Endorin was forced to, as Galbatorix knew his true name, but seeing as how he didn't know Alaeyr's, Alaeyr was forced to swear, only to protect his rider. After that was training with Thorn, Kaldr, and Shruikan, along with Jekarta, and Salmissra. Still now, Alaeyr tries to get out of his predicament, hoping that Endorin will find a way to break free of their prison.
