Name: Andraste Renai
Age: looks 20, actually 75
Race: elven
Appearance: Andraste stands about 5'8" and has hair like that of burnished silver. Her eyes are an emerald green and shine like the forest when she's smiling. Her body is evenly proportioned, being of athletic physique. Though she is thin, she is incredibly strong. Her hair is usually braided up into a french braid behind her with her bangs being beaded up ornately on the side of her head.
Personality: She is very tomboyish, and hence she is working in a forge. When she joined the Varden, she ended up forcing herself to work on distribution of weapons. It was what she did best other than spellweaving. She is very outgoing and has a fiery personality. Not afraid to tell anyone off if they're annoying her or just being pure stupid. The only real loves in her life is nature and working. She finds work the most liberating thing she can partake in.
History: She was born to a small family a few years before the war began to truly escalate. As all elven children are, she was highly respected, but even amongst elves, she began to take more of a lesser role. She wasn't very astounding in her skills as she progressed through her younger years, but she did develop a keen connection to earthen materials such as metal and rocks and soil. As most elves have a connection to the forest, many of her peers found this odd.
However, Andraste continued to manipulate rocks and metals with spells, making them harder, giving them properties that they wouldn't otherwise have, and by far she became the most knowledged person in warping such elements. But she did not neglect the rest of her life at all. She still learned valuable survival skills by going out into the outland forests for weeks on end to train herself and to gain more experience in surviving harsh conditions.
The fifth and final time she returned from one of her excursions, she found the city in a tumult, she witnessed the first of a new generation of riders enter Elesmera, her home: Eragon Shadeslayer, as they called him. She had been amazed to see the large mass of blue scales, but she was not awed like the rest of her bretheren, but rathered, simply happy that they had hope of finally ousting the ursurper king.
When the elves fought for Gil'ead, she was at the battle, fighting alongside her fellow elves for the sake of an end to suffering. She had learned all of the details of his tyranny and had wished to oust him for good, and the best way she knew how to was to siege the city with her kind, to serve in military service to the good of the known world. Once the battle had ended, she continued to serve in miltary service, but moved herself into the ranks of Varden soldiers, serving as a defense against any magicians the fell-kin might have placed in their ranks.
It was not too much longer, however, that she pulled herself off the front lines, choosing to serve by distributing weapons to the soldiers so they could do the job that she was no longer willing to do. She did this until she met Kano, of whom she then vowed to help, moving with him to his new forge in Feinster.
Roleplaying example:
“Someone get some water.”
“Quickly, too, I think he’s coming back.”
“Heart rate is at 35 bpm and steadying.”
Lights. Bright lights. Ryvn’s eyes adjusted and he found himself laying on the gurney of a medical ward. However, where the medical ward was in the universe was another mystery to him.
“Welcome back, Ryvn Kesler.” The head doctor said as Ryvn sat up groggily to see the cryo tubes in his arm. He took the leads off and with the help of the doctor, got the tubes out of his arm. “Get yourself cleaned up, then report directly to Allied headquarters, Allied Military Command has need of your talents.” The doctor said while he went to leave.
“Wait… Before you leave can you tell me just exactly where I am?” Ryvn asked, standing up and rubbing his slick, greasy hair made so by the oils his body secreted while he was out cold.
The head doctor looked back at Ryvn. “You’re in the VV-Cephai system, son.” He said before disappearing between the automatic doors. Ryvn shrugged it off and did as he was told, getting himself cleaned up and taking his belongings. He headed towards the exit of the building. It felt different for some reason. Maybe it was because he was not used to the slightly increased gravitational force. Ryvn began investigating, gleaning that the planet was known as Alphard IV, and that it housed another sentient race known as the Nyherians. Ryvn had also managed to learn that it had been three years since the alliance was forged between their two races, and one hundred years since the Terran diaspora from Earth. These thoughts humbled him, making him realize that he had been under for over one hundred years.
He shoved these thoughts aside, trying to move on, and went to the small café that was housed within the medical facility. He ate a bit before finally deciding to get up and head outside. Much to his surprise, the exit on the level he was on did not lead to the ground floor, but actually exited onto a long platform that led to another building. The pathway actually split up into five separate paths, each leading to a separate skyscraper. Ryvn was also surprised to see the glistening skyscrapers amongst massive pines that were just as tall. The buildings were tall and crystalline, and had an asymmetrical feel to them, yet the spires reached towards an aqua colored sky that had several hazy orbs in view, obviously moons of the planet.
The sight was magnificent. As he looked around, he saw that he was several hundred feet off the ground; he must have been over ten stories high on the medical building. He followed the signs, the runes on them confusing him, but not so much when he noticed that it was written in English as well, of which he had found out that it had become the identified language of the human race. Ryvn made his way to the Allied Military Command’s headquarters, which were some two miles away through the pathways. Luckily, it didn’t take him too long to get there. As he entered the building, he admired its layout. In the right corner, he looked at the outline of the different floors of the building. He walked to the receptionist, who then directed him to the upper tiers of the building. The Nyherians had impressed Ryvn already with their architecture and city organization. They were obviously very intelligent and very creative in the use of their hands.
As he arrived at the head office, he walked in and stood at attention, saluting. “You called sir?” He asked calmly. Ryvn had been a captain way back on Earth, serving in the United States Marines.
“Ah, yes. Ryvn. Please, take a seat and make yourself comfortable. I have the most auspicious proposition for you.” The man said as he turned around. He was obviously highly decorated and intelligent.
Ryvn sat down. “So I hear.” He replied as he waited for him to speak.
“Now… I pulled up your military service record, quite impressive, Captain. I must say, your bravery in the face of danger is amazing. My proposition is simple. We are in need of fighter pilots to help suppress an insurrection of elitists who decided that humans are the supreme race. This rebellion has already taken such a heavy toll on our forces already, we need reinforcements.”
Ryvn looked at the papers he was given, reading the contract carefully. “So you’re saying I go through some brief training, and then I get thrown into the fray?” The man nodded. “Allright then, I’ll accept. However, there is one thing I ask in return: see if you can find my sister.”
“Already done, Ryvn. She’s on the third floor of this building. There is an elevator outside the door, first hallway on the left. All right then; you will report tomorrow morning to the base to the east to start your training as a fighter pilot.” The commander of the military said before dismissing Ryvn.
Ryvn thanked the man and left, passing between the two guards, who didn’t seem to notice him. Ryvn was only twenty three years old, and yet he felt like he was older. In fact, he was over one hundred years old, but thanks to cryo he didn’t age a bit. He was glad just to be alive, but he wanted to find out what happened to Earth to cause such a mass exodus from home. They were so many light-years away from their mother, and yet they strived for the truth embedded deep within their own civilization, and within that of the Nyherians. Whatever happened here would harbor the future for the human race.
These thoughts occupied him as he stood on one of the many elevator platforms that were at the edges of the building. The platform had a large window-like shield that allowed the viewing of the city from the enclosed elevator. The view was indeed spectacular. The spires of the city rising some two hundred feet above the massive evergreen forest, piercing the sky and the clouds, looking like a massive crystalline rock formation from a long distance. The Nyherians were in tune with nature, they took inspiration from nature, and they molded it to fit the surroundings, without waste, and without greed. Ryvn had seen what power did to some people, and apparently it did not hold the same sway for Nyherians. They believed that their leader was a servant to the public, one who was supposed to defend the people and bring them hope and prosperity. This belief led to many right choices, but many of the Nyherians looked down on humans, finding them small and weak. He contributed it to the fact that they had the same kind of pride the humans did; oh how similar these two very different races were.
As he exited the elevator, he turned to see the lab, along with countless scientists and aides. He entered the room, looking around, but as he looked, Ryvn saw his sister, back turned to him. Soon she turned around and their eyes met. There was silence, and his jaw simply dropped. She had become the director of the Research and Development crew. She had power.
