Name: Murtagh Morzansson
Age: Twenty One
Race: Human
Appearance: playby: Garrett Hedlund
Dark chocolate brown hair that falls into his light gray eyes. Murtagh is considered a rather good looking man, for he stands at a height of 6'4. A very good height for a warrior. He is also quite tan for he had been working in the sun for a while, when he was younger. Murtagh has muscles in his arms, though it does not stand out much, he does indeed have some strength in his upper body. On his hand, he bears a white mark, proving that he is indeed a Rider. Murtagh is clean shaven and has a scar on his back from the sword that his father had thrown at him. He carries the sword that used to belong to his father, called Misery. Also known as Zar'roc.
Personality: Stubborn. Impatient. Calm. Cool. Murtagh is not known to be a very happy person. He barely ever does smile and when he does, it doesn't last very long. He also is always cautious of everyone, thus making it hard to ever trust anyone. The only people he does trust is Thorn and Arwen. When trusting someone, Murtagh thinks that they are basically family. Otherwise, he trusts no one and with his past with Arwen, he believes that she is the only one he can ever trust. Even Eragon isn't someone he can trust so easily now. Murtagh has learned to become very powerful in magic, this making him quite prideful of himself sometimes. He is also a very stubborn because once he makes a decision, he sticks to it. With a cool look and a calm sounding voice, Murtagh can be very persuasive. He also happens to be quite impatient sometimes when he wants something done. All in all, Murtagh is quite a good actor.
History: (cutting this short)
The oldest son of Morzan was born during the mid of April. His mother, Selena was the one who had given birth to him. Murtagh rarely ever saw his mother for he was taken away by a wet nurse at birth. Thus, Murtagh hardly even got time to spend time with his mother. During that fateful night, his father had come back drunk. Much to Murtagh's innocence, he had tried to approach his father, but the old man was drunk and rowdy. Unable to control his anger, Morzan threw his sword at Murtagh, leaving him with a scar that he has to carry for the rest of his life. When she, his mother, disappeared suddenly, Murtagh was hurt. He felt it was because of him that she had disappeared. Well, his younger self that believed that.
Growing older, Murtagh became quite skilled in swordplay. During his 18th birthday, the king requested Murtagh to join him for dinner. Mysteriously enough, the king happened to be in a jolly good mood. Murtagh had been suspicious at first, but when the king had offered his “friendship”, Murtagh couldn't help but accept. Unfortunately, he had been wrong about the friendship. Soon after, the king had ordered them all to go out to execute and destroy a small town called Cantos. They were to kill everyone, women and children. They were also asked not to even hesitate for they were to be killed without question. Disgusted and afraid, he had fled away with his teacher. During the escape, Murtagh's teacher was killed leaving the young man alone. Eventually, he met Eragon, Brom and Arwen. With his persuasive skills, he managed to get Eragon and Arwen to travel with him to the Varden. At first, Arwen and him were horrid to each other but they slowly began to grow on each other. It always seemed that Arwen was the one causing the ruckus when fighting with her 'brother' Eragon. The two annoyed Murtagh so much and managed to keep them from killing each other.
As soon as they reached the Varden, he was taken away as prisoner. To his surprise, he watched as Arwen had defended him in a very rude tone. She was even thrown into jail because of her yelling and actions. Murtagh then felt a stronger bond form between them. It was in the jail cell that the two really bonded and became good friends. Arwen was let out, but he wasn't. It was until the battle in Farthen Dur that Murtagh was able to get out. Actually, Arwen had been the one that had snuck down and freed him. After the huge battle, he and Arwen were kidnapped by the twins. The two were then sent to the king of the empire and it was there that Murtagh had received his punishment for running away. After being tortured for his rebellion, Murtagh was shown one of the remaining dragon eggs. That was when his dragon, Thorn, was hatched for him. Galbatorix made him and Thorn swear his allegiance to him in the ancient language, thus forcing his loyalty to the evil king. Since then he has fought Eragon multiple times, never capturing his half-brother – Murtagh has found ways around his oath to Galbatorix and has never taken his brother hostage – and still clings to the hope he can be freed from the evil king.
Currently, Murtagh lives beside Arwen. The two still talk to each other often and even train together when they can. Murtagh and Thorn both trust Arwen completely and hope that all three of them will be able to escape the empire one day.
Roleplaying example: murtagh tells you all to go to arwen. Apparently, she has all the answers.
How did you find us? arwen told murtagh to finally show up because he was taking wayyy too long.
