-Anira’s bio will be posted soon; and this was cleared by Angmor just so you all know-
-Edit by Angmor: Indeed. This guy was the first original Rider they had on Lethrblaka, this sites predecessor, older even than Kyemen and Sierthra. When that site shut down and I started up this place, I allowed everyone who had a Rider character to transport them over here. Talon just came late. -End edit-
Name: Capio Corripio
Age: 28
Race: Human/Rider
Appearance: Capio Corripio is a tall lithe warrior. The body of a gymnast and a runner his muscles are toned for speed, endurance, and precision. Strength is not his greatest attribute; his body is simply not built for it. Though not as strong as his older brother Pravus, Capio is slightly taller, nearing 6’5”. One would think this slows him down in battle, it only enhances his reach. Since he is slim he must always work around stronger and better armored opponents. The captain uses his speed and endurance to either outlast and dodge his enemy or strike them down before they have a chance to react. All of his strikes and smooth and precise, Capio fights as if it’s a chess match. Strike with a scimitar here, dodge there, get a hit now. Normally small movements can get the job done, but he is also a master of an elegant sweeping style.
The armor Capio wears is made to allow maximum amount of movement with the best protection. It is made of lightweight metal that has been shaped into a weave like formation for the breastplate. It goes down in an intersecting v-shaped weave, every other piece of the metal is placed over the next in an alternating fashion. So the breastplate Capio wears is not one piece of metal, but several pieces all interlocked so that the swordsman can bend and move unhindered. The metal is strong and well enchanted now that Capio is a rider. His armor was also given a very slight blue tint by the craftsmen that made it. This was for simple aesthetic look when he is with Anira. Capio will wear his breastplate and a very light shirt of mail. The mail does not cover his entire arm; instead the rider uses bracers and tough leather gloves. Once again the metal on the bracers is tinted a very light blue.
The captain’s shoes are normally black leather, polished to a high shine. His pants are either a simple brown for traveling or a deep orange with light blue tracings for battle and parties held within Uru’baen. The tunic he wears usually has a base color of either orange or sky blue, if it is orange the tracings are blue and vice versa. Overall the rider must keep his appearance well to do so he makes sure to match his dragon and strangely colored hair. Truth be told Capio doesn’t care for his attire, that is, unless you’re talking about his cape. The rider goes nowhere without it. It is a long sweeping thing that clips around the neck and is colored beautiful sky blue to match Anira’s scales. It has some slight orange tracing on it, written enchantments to turn arrows away. Capio will also use the cape in battle at times. Catching thrown daggers or even confusing sword strikes. Needless to say his cape needs to be replaced often. Normally the cape is blue, but at times he will done an orange cape, a throwback to the days before his ever constant companion. However, Capio would trade in the cape if it meant losing his twin scimitars.
The young rider had a fine pair before finding Anira, but once he became an accomplished rider Galbatorix thought it high time to outfit Capio with the best the Empire had to offer. The scimitars were made specifically for Capio by one of the newly captured elves under Galbatroix’s control. They curve only slightly and are not near as wide as the old Arabian style. The hilt is wrapped in leather died a brilliant sky blue to match Anira, and set in the pommel of each is a brilliant amber almost catching the color of Capio’s hair. The rider keeps the shorter swords at his side. Though lately he has changed this to carrying them on his back. It just makes it easier when riding. Besides the twin scimitars Capio also keeps several tricks hidden away. As a normal Captain the man kept throwing daggers, now he has a simple pouch with tiny rounded pebbles. Ever since he became proficient at magic Capio discovered that a small bit of magic could send the pebbles flying at a deadly speed.
Like all riders Capio is marked with the silver argetlam. His particular mark is on the middle of his left hand. Since he is ambidextrous this did not create too much of a hazard when learning to use magic. It has the slightest of blue tinges added to its silver glaze.
His eyes are an icy blue in color, funny enough they seem to match Anira’s sky blue scales at times. He was renowned for his glare ever since he became a captain. That has not changed since he became a rider.
Personality: Before Anira Capio was much like his brother. Cruel and unmerciful, likely to yell at the smallest of infractions and crazy when training others. This attitude was a trademark of the Corripio’s. Capio was truly evil to his core and he didn’t care to hide it from anyone in the Empire. He worked hard, trained daily and quickly rose through the ranks. However, unlike his brother, Capio had extreme pride and a good helping of chivalry. The captain did not like to fight unfairly and would often face opponents one on one when it wasn’t needed on the battlefield. He also has some difficulty when it comes to fighting women. Naturally he’s getting over that part since some many Vardeners are well trained women. There is no time to discriminate. All the same he was mean and everyone gave him a wide birth.
Then Anira came and changed everything Capio knew. Before the dragon the captain had deeply bitter towards Murtagh and Thorn. More than anything he had loathed magic. Much like Pravus and other warriors Capio feared the unknown that could kill him so quickly. All his training would be for naught if he ran into some puny wizard. When Anira hatched for him Capio didn’t think it would affect his attitude. He had gone to the egg chamber to get a tool for raising his position in the Empire. As long as he was a normal human he would stay at a lower level. Despite his hatred for magic he needed it, as a dragon rider…he could rise to unheard of heights. That attitude changed the second the burning fire spread through his veins. At that moment Capio’s mind melded with another, he felt hunger and had to care for another living thing.
As Anira grew Capio learned more of mercy and justice. He began to spot flaws in the Empire’s system and he strived for change. Once close with his brother Pravus, Capio now grew distant. This also changed the tall swordsman as he discovered he didn’t like being cruel like the Corripio’s were known for. Every passing day Capio spent with Anira he began to change. Not just physically, but mentally. He began to think more strategically but he also became increasingly concerned about the numerous people in the Empire. Before Capio would have stepped on anyone to get what he wanted. Now he didn’t care about rank. His focus shifted to saving and improving the lives of everyone in the Empire.
However his hatred for the Varden remained. There was simply no forgiving the swine. They were going about everything wrong. Galbatorix may not be perfect but he was an excellent Emperor. The problems were in the lower level, the Empire could be saved. The Varden were blind to that only saw the evil of a few bad soldiers and they wished to destroy a delicate peace. During battle Capio drops into a deadly calm, just like his brother Pravus. At times anger fuels his actions but most of the time he is able to keep his mind level and placid so that he can think clearly. It would be a mistake to think Capio has grown soft. He will still snap at soldiers and obliterate the Varden. The rider simply knows his purpose now and sees through the eyes of justice and at times has learned the power of mercy.
History: Capio Corripio is the young brother of Pravus Corripio and the son of Malus Corripio. More importantly he is the rider bound to the sky blue dragon Anira. Before Anira came into his life Capio was another proud son of the Corripio family. His childhood was spent in constant competition with his older brother Pravus. The two young boys didn’t have a choice; it was how they were raised by their father. Struggle and fight to survive to become strong. After all their father, Malus had been a general and served Galbatorix proudly for his entire life. As a favor to Malus for his serve the King gave the general a piece of land to look over and rule as lord. There was a small holding, and a castle of sorts not far from Uru’baen. For the first eight years of his life Capio spent his life there, training even at those early years. His brother Pravus left when Capio was only four years old. It had little effect on him, save he was spared a constant black eye. Then four years later Capio discovered where his brother had gone.
There was a special school for training up those that would serve in Galbatroix’s army. Even at that age Capio was made to take an oath in the Ancient Language, and then he went through even more extensive training. He dwelled within the shadow that his brother cast. Pravus was the pride of the Corripio’s now. Twelve years old and already wielding full sized weapons and taking down older squires. Capio couldn’t help that he simply wasn’t as big as his brother. During training the younger brother couldn’t fight like they had expected. They were hoping for another Pravus. What they got was an icy eyed lanky boy. Even then Capio was too tall for his feet. Pravus was training to use a long sword or a broadsword. Capio came in wielding two small daggers. However he quickly put worries to rest, he was no Pravus, he was a different warrior altogether. The little eight year old could strike with deadly efficiency and was faster than any of his peers. Those two daggers were used simultaneously and it was easy to see that the daggers would become swords when Capio grew just a bit more. Still Pravus overshadowed his brother; his knightly skills simply outshined the different style Capio had.
Eventually both brothers completed their training when they each reached eighteen years. Both had been the top of their class, the most prized pages and squires. Pravus grew into a large man that would wear more armor than two men together. He would lead battle from the front lines; already he had the markings of a great general. Capio grew ever taller, his muscles ever leaner. Speed unmatched, the coordination between his limbs was incredible. Each twin blade he wielded could match the swords wielding by his peers. Though he had an much different style it was easy to see that Capio also had the markings of a grand general.
At this time in their lives the brothers were the best of friends and the greatest of rivals. They would spar with each other constantly, and work at breaking in new recruits. Together they revised strategies and planned strikes. When war began to stir and the Varden became a threat they worked increasingly more. Pravus rose to the rank of Captain and soon enough, in his own time, Capio did as well. While Pravus was away with his own regiment of troops Capio was left on the most important duty in Uru’baen, guarding the egg chamber. The unthinkable happened. A thief broke into the castle and headed straight for Capio’s guard, the egg chamber was put in jeopardy. The young captain was able to fend off the intruder, but suffered a hard hit to the head. His scalp was separated in a section and his entire face was soaked in his own blood. Capio did not immediately see to a healer. Instead he saw to the eggs first, they were the hope of the Empire and he had to make sure none of them were missing. Capio never wanted to become a rider and he looked on the eggs with disgust. They were magical in nature and so they held nothing but tools for increasing rank. Thankfully all the eggs remained.
As he left the chamber Capio paused. Something was tugging him back. Suddenly he became curious, thoughts of dragons filled his head and the captain suddenly didn’t look at the eggs in disgust. He drew too close and accidently bled on a beautiful sky blue egg. Filled with regret and worry of retribution from Galbatorix the young captain quickly picked up the egg and gingerly wiped away the wet blood before it stained the egg. He thought he had been careful but as he studied the egg after putting it back on the pedestal he was shocked to see a thin crack. Capio put his face close to the crack, wondering if there was a way to repair it, he wiped the blood from his left hand and touched grazed a thumb over the crack. Then the egg burst, shards of sky blue shooting everywhere. Capio felt faint. Lack of blood and now this…extreme pain spread up his arm from the palm of his left hand. Liquid fire was running from his wound, the pain was so great the captain couldn’t scream. The last thing he saw before the trauma did him in was a small deep blue eyes looking at him with extreme worry. Then Capio collapsed to the ground, he had lost too much blood and the pain from the dragon’s touch had knocked him to the ground.
The guards came when they heard the frantic squeaking. Imagine their shock when they found a small sky blue dragon, soaked in egg goop and the blood of her own rider. The small creature was squealing in despair as she desperately tried to clean the wound and stem the flow of blood. In the hallway there was the body of the intruder and here on the ground was the captain they admired and loved. Needless to say the healer came now, but no one knew what to do with the hatchling, so they alerted Galbatorix. They feared the small dragon, thinking she had something to do with the Captain’s injuries. So they tried to keep her away from Capio, a few bit fingers later no one else tried to keep her away. Unfortunately it took several hours to get the message to Galbatorix. Capio would recover, he was simply weak from loss of blood, but the lack of care for the young hatchling was beginning to wear on her. She had yet to eat and refused to leave Capio. She slept on the man’s chest as her breathing grew slower, her stomach rumbling.
When Galbatorix was finally reached the hospital wing was almost set ablaze. The king was overjoyed at first, one of his best and most loyal captains had a dragon hatch for him, but he was outraged at the scene in the hospital wing. Capio was well taken care of and his head was bandaged, but there on his chest was a quickly fading hatchling. Galbatorix went into a rage actually killing the orderly in charge. Meat was immediately sent to the wing and the hatchling finally received a long delayed meal. This was the beginning of Capio and Anira’s relationship. And it started with sacrifice for each other.
Needless to say the two were inseparable. Quickly enough Anira was named and began to speak. Capio was already made to practice magic but most of his days were spent simply spending time with his new companion. There was something deeper than friendship between the two. Even before Anira spoke her first word they knew the other was a part of them. A half of their being that they could now depend on. The challenges awaiting them would be great, but they had each other. Pravus returned and learned of what had happened. He has not spoken to his brother since.
Capio and Anira trained under Galbatorix and Murtagh. Yet Capio still remained inept at magic, until he received some instruction from a curious character living in Uru’baen. Anira made friends with a strange creature and since then Capio has been improving daily with magic. His hatred for it has disappeared and his skill at utilizing it grows exponentially. Already the young dragon and rider have tangled with some of the younger riders from the Varden. They took part in some crucial battles, though they unfortunately could not turn back defeat.
The pair were admired by their soldiers and known throughout much of the Empire. Then they simply disappeared, and not for a short time. They told no one where they were going and the Varden figured they had died, simply fallen off the face of Alagaesia. Truth be told Capio and Anira were investigating Vroengard for Galbatorix, but this a matter between only them. Now Capio and Anira arrive from the west coming back to their home in Uru’baen to face a new threat.
