Cato grinned, the plains outside of Dras Leona were as about as dry as the humor of the man in charge of the city. He was about to stage the largest heist he had pulled off ever. One of the mansions in the city was the residence of a very powerful priest of the imperial church. It was his turn to repay them. With the skills of magic he had learned from various elves he had met and helped escape the clutches of the empire, he had enough ability to break in, steal, and escape without anyone catching him. He was the ultimate assasin and thief, but he would only do it every once in a while to avoid suspicion. Nobody knew exactly who he was, and no one would ever care so long as their pathetic lives continued on and they had something to eat.
They were all pathetic, though some showed promise. He cared only for the ones with some intelectual prowess, but he despised the ones that had pandered their way to the top, then only oppressed the unfortunate ones. He was the one who was going to bring them down, a sort of Robin Hood, but he wasn't going to let the Empire know about him just yet, he was just going to get in, get out, and cause havoc like a barbed spear on the way in, and all the way out as well. He walked into the city, eyes darting from place to place, face hiding his true thoughts.
Cato had learned and taught many people, always have a plan to kill anyone you meet. He lived by this code, and now he needed to find his younger brother to team up with. He had found out that his brother had come to find him when he went home the last time, the hard part was finding where he had gone. That was a primary goal for him. His secondary goal, however, had just taken priority. He was about to pull off a massive heist of which no one would be able to see coming. "Viva la vie" he muttered to himself, a wide grin on his face. He was one of the happiest people in the city right now.

How could she have such bad luck? She hadn’t thought that finding a job would be so difficult. Adding to the fact that this had to be about the 20 somethingth job she’s tried to get, and now she was being thrown out of the building! Why was she being thrown out of the building? The answer was simple. She had been remembered. One of the owners had heard of her parents, with them being elves and upon hearing her last name, decided to throw her out. They had spouted curses and phrases like, “I won’t allow a devil worshipper in my establishment!”. Why is it that everyone she’s ever met, that’s heard of her parents, always think that she follows Galbatorix too? She was an elf, she would have thought that her parents would have the common sense not to follow him, but that didn’t happen. However, her mother had been smart enough not to buy into it like her grandparents and father had.
She was thrown out of the building, the man dusting his hands off and slamming the door shut after her. Stumbling forwards, not able to catch her balance too quickly, she almost landed right into a man, but instead twisted her ankle the slightest amount and instead landed right in front of him. “Ow,” was all that she could say before looking up at the man she had landed in front of. He was good looking, for a human. She blushed, she hadn’t meant to just stumble out and land at this man’s feet. However, she had no time to be thinking about such things. She had to find a job. If after a few more weeks, she didn’t find one, then she would have to return to her home or try to use her family as a reference to get a job with the empire. She shivered at the thought of that.
Standing up, brushing her hands down her shirt and pants to get the dirt off, she looked over at the man sheepishly. What should she say? Should she say anything at all? “Sorry about that. Hadn’t meant to land in front of you” she smiled briefly and started to walk away, ahead of him, in the same direction he had been heading in. He looked suspicious, looking around as if he was up to something. She had to wonder if he was up to something. Humans were so easy to predict that way. Of course, elves were just the same way, but after living so long and being so much more ahead of the human race, they tended to lose that trait fast. Turning around to look at the man that she had landed in front of, she smiled briefly again. This would be awkward to ask. “Excuse me, sorry to interrupt your shifty eyes again,” a nervous chuckle. “But do you know of anyone looking for an employee. Willing to do a lot as long as it doesn’t have to tie into working for the Empire?” hopefully he wouldn’t say anything about her weird behaviour. And if he did see it as weird, instead of commenting, hopefully he would just walk around and ignore her.

Cato stopped as she fell at his feet. He raised an eyebrow. He found himself an apprentice in his trade. He smiled at the girl. She was exactly what he was looking for. “Sorry about that. Hadn’t meant to land in front of you” Cato smiled at her. "Pick yourself up, and dust yourself up, and keep on going." he said calmly, looking at her. She was polite, at least, he needed that. She also seemed quiet, that would be key. She was going to get the deal of a lifetime. However, his olive green eyes wandered away and looked around before he was interrupted again. He wasn't one to get angry that much, and if he was, it would take a lot of effort to make him angry.
“Excuse me, sorry to interrupt your shifty eyes again, but do you know of anyone looking for an employee? Willing to do a lot as long as it doesn’t have to tie into working for the Empire.” Cato smiled. "Why of course. In fact, I'm looking for an apprentice if you're interested. I've got a job this evening if you are interested." He said with a smile. He was willing to give her the opportunity to help him. "I regret that I can't tell you exactly what the job is until I am sure there are no other listeners." he said calmly. The mission was going to be sheer victory for him, after all, he was a self-trained assasin.

She didn’t like the way he told her what to do. She knew that he hadn’t meant any offence by it, but she couldn’t help but feel it offensive. Who was he to tell her what to do? She was older than him, not that he could tell though, and she had her own actions and abilities. It wasn’t as if she was incompetent and couldn’t do it without being told. Calming herself down, she knew that thinking that way wouldn’t get her anywhere and she had no right to assume and think such things. He was just a man whose feet had a woman sprawled in front of. Doing just that, picking herself up and dusting herself off, she continued forward, though having him tell her to do so still annoyed her.
However, she couldn’t hold this against him or continue to think and dwell on the matter if she were to ask him this simple question. He would be doing her a favour if he were able to tell her of a place that was hiring or offer her something. She doubted that he would have a job for her, but he looked like a ‘jack of all trades’. He had to know about something that she could do or somewhere that would take her. Pushing her thoughts about his possible arrogance and command aside—knowing that he was not arrogant nor commanding her—she walked up to him.
Waiting patiently for his answer, she smiled wide, her face lighting up as he offered her a job. She hadn’t believed that he would have a job for her. As before, he looked like a ‘jack of all trades’, he should know where to find jobs not where he could hand out jobs. Although, that thought might not make sense to anyone else. “I accept the offer, thank you.” she turned around, facing the same direction as he was headed in, she couldn’t help but look over at him. What was this job that he couldn’t say it aloud? There were many jobs that people did, that should never be said aloud, but she had to wonder if this was one of them.
Even though he couldn’t tell her what the job was, she had to ask anyways. Without knowing what the job was wouldn’t bother her at all, a number of people liked their secrecy. However, knowing whether the job would be something lewd or out of her comfort zone, that was something she was entitled to know. “ The only thing I’d like to know, as I should, you won’t require me to . . .” she trailed off. If he wouldn’t tell her, how could she be certain that he wasn’t talking about a stripper or a whore? You could never tell, he may just be some noble man looking for an easy girl to sleep with, without allowing his wife’s snoop knowing. And if that was the case, then she would just walk away from this job offering. He attire could even be a disguise for such a reason.

Cato's face was serious for a change. "No, I am not requiring you to be some whore..." he said as he came to a reputable inn. He stopped briefly, "Do you have any backrooms in which me and my friend can talk in privacy?" The innkeep nodded and pointed to the back room. Cato bowed respectfully and heading back there as he opened it up, sitting at a table after setting his bag down. He smiled. "Allright, now..." He said before murmuring a spell to guard them from eavesdroppers. "Now we can talk in privacy. I'll tell you what my job is. I'm planning to rob a wealthy merchant who supports the Empire." He said with a sly grin. "I'll need someone to guard my back while I get in and get out. Granted, I can, but I don't want anyone to die in this little heist." He said smiling.
Cato was a sly man, but he wouldn't dupe honest people, he would only cheat the cheaters and steal from the thieves. He was slight of hand and nimble on his feet. On the other hand, he was quick thinking and had the strength to back up his assertions. "I will have you know that I am not a liar and that I will not dupe you on this. There is a high chance that one or both of us may be hurt, but I'd rather keep that to a minimum. Now is the time to back out if you aren't willing to help, or you can stay in and we can get ready." He said calmly.
Cato began pulling tools out of his bag, a small wooden tube, a few extra hooks and tools that he had, and of course, a facemask he used to protect his identity while doing heists like this. He smiled as he took the cap off the tube, revealing a small three-inch dagger. He turned to a loose wooden plank, pulling a small lever and launching the blade through the wood. He smiled, pulled it out and reattaching it to it. "Anyways. If you accept, we will leave as soon as twilight sets in." he said before turning to her. "You in or not?"

She sighed as he said that he would not require that of her. Her relief was taken from her as they approached an inn. How could she trust him? There was no way to be sure if she could even trust him. All she had to go on was his word and there were many liars in this world. If only there were more respectable men who could love instead of treacherous men who could lie. Shaking her head of the thought, she listened to what he was asking. A back room? If that didn’t scream, “whore” then what did. As they passed the innkeep, she caught the smirk on his lips. Shocked and disgust clearly on her face, she scoffed to him. How dare he assume that of her!
Following him, she was alert if he were to try anything. Her hand reached down her side, clutching her hidden dagger in case of emergency. She was surprised, this human could perform magic, and not many could. Finally, he was going to tell her what was going on. As he said, “merchant who supports the empire” she had to shift her eyes from his face, nodding her head to look less anxious. Her family was well known in Dras-Leona for being the only Elvin household to support the Empire. Added to that fact, they were also very rich, no thanks to her father’s work for Galbatorix. “May I know which merchant?” she hoped that he wouldn’t say the Atines.
He only needed her to guard his back? That wasn’t so hard. She was nimble herself, and a few fancy footwork and flips always came in handy when in combat. As well as her cinquedea trick. It always came back like a boomerang; thank the lord for magic. She smiled to him; that thought having never crossed her mind. “I believe you, I didn’t take you as a person to ‘dupe’ people easily” she smirked to him. As he started to pull tools out of his bag, she could only watch and wait. It was nice that he had all these fancy and intricate weapons, but if he didn’t want anyone to die, weren’t they pointless? Looking up to him, she grinned wide and pulled her own weapons to the table. Her dagger lain down as well as her ‘normal’ looking cinquedea. They weren’t too special and didn’t look as intricate nor fancy like his, but hers would do her just fine. “Why not? Count me in” she picked up her cinquedea, throwing it in the air, catching it then immediately throwing it at the wall. As it imbedded itself into the wood, she flicked her wrists and it returned to her delicate hands. Hey, if he was going to show off, so could she.

Cato looked at the map of the city he rolled out onto it. "Here." He said pointing at a large building closer to the wall between the hovels of the poor and the mansions of the rich. "He's a man named Garner... He supports the Imperial Church, which is another reason I think it'd be best to play a little game with him." He said with a sly grin. He strapped a few daggers. "I don't like having to kill, in fact, I would prefer no one dies. However, sometimes these heists are endangered by someone, witnesses must be eliminated." He said before looking at the map. "We're breaking in through the back window, second floor balcony. I've got connections who have told me where exactly he keeps his stash. We're going to deliver a blow so powerful to his economic status that he won't be able to support the Empire ever again." He said with a grin.
He was ready, and he hoped she was as well, because there would be a high risk on this heist. He looked at the map and then out the window, seeing the golden light of the evening. "We're about to reach peak time, we must go now." he said picking his belongings up and looking at her, nodding slightly.

She looked at the map as he rolled it out. So, they weren’t hitting her house. She held in a sigh of relief so that she wouldn’t seem suspicious. It wasn’t as if she wanted to protect Garner, she knew his family, having been introduced to them by her father when she was still crippled. However, that wasn’t going to stop her from doing this. He hadn’t seen her since she was far younger, when her father was still alive. That had been so many years ago that he wouldn’t even recognise her. If he did, she would just use a memory spell to rid her from his current thoughts.
She caught the grin on his face and had to wonder how much fun he was having with this. It seemed like this was the most fun he’d had in a while. What did he do for a living? He hadn’t said too much about himself, though she didn’t expect him too. The funny thing that she had to stifle a laugh at, she didn’t even know his name. As he pulled his weapons on, obviously ready to leave any minute, she put her cinquedea back and adjusted her hidden dagger. As he nodded to her, she stood up and nodded back. “It may not be important, but my name’s Lissa” she grinned over to him. It would be nice to at least know his name, even if she were to never meet him again.
Sorry it’s so short!

Cato smiled, happy to have a partner in crime. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Lissa. My name is Cato Inazuma." He said calmly. Cato looked around, rolling the map back up and watching the window. "We should be leaving now, people will be heading home soon." he said calmly before looking at the door. He was ready for this. His grin had disappeared, revealing only firm conviction. Cato was strong, much like his father. All three of them, Kano, Cato, and their father were like the old trees of Du Weldenvarden: flexible in torrential situations, yet deep-rooted and strong to stand even in the good times. They were great allies to have.
He smiled slightly. "Let us go now." He said, erasing any evidence of their presence from the room. They would not be able to track them, and Cato would make damned sure of it. He lead Lissa out of the inn, looking around before walking out of the street. The street was empty allready, that was good, no witnesses, at least not yet.
