Lissa cursed her luck. She had been trying for days to find anyone in Teirm to give her a job. It would be pointless to use her name to get what she wanted, the whole reason she was looking for a job was that she didn’t want to rely on her deceased parents. Lis wanted to be her own person, and having ties to the Empire wasn’t exactly on her to do list. She would rather choose what she wanted, believed what she wanted, and obey who she wanted. Although her father and mother’s family had been with Galbatorix, her mother had taught her otherwise. It seems that her mother was the only person with a brain in the family.
Turning down an alleyway, Lissa passed two large men. They were elves, from what she could sense. She bit her lip as they started to follow her. This wasn’t good. She was an elf, and could easily defend herself against humans, human men, and other female elves. However, two male elves, she would have a difficulty with. Lissa’s hand subtly slid down to her thigh and she cursed herself even more. She had forgotten her blade at home. She could have already killed them from the 20-foot difference between them. The wonders magic could give to weapons. Glancing over her shoulder, she saw the sneer on one of their faces. She knew exactly what they wanted. If only, there was a lake near by, or a safe house where she could hide. But no, she had decided to take the alleyway as a short cut. Why hadn’t she just stayed in Dras-Leona for the week, as she had thought of? Why couldn’t she had procrastinated longer?
It was at that moment that she felt a hand on her shoulder and it soon pinned her against the wall. “Where you headed little lady?” his breath reeked of alcohol. They were drunk. This may have helped her if she had her blade, but it was still two against one. Why hadn’t she taken more defence lessons when she had the opportunity? She had been too busy learning how to make herself half ‘fish’ that it hadn’t seemed as important. “Please, just leave me alone. I’ll pay you” She was hoping that it would be a good enough distraction for her to knee him in the groin, but he only seemed to tighten his hold on her. “Oh well now, you can pay us for giving you some wonderful feelings when we’re done.” Lissa glared at him. That cocky bastard. Acting quickly, Lissa sent out the nearest plea, ‘help’ to the nearest soul, hoping that they would come to her aid. Flinching and trying to pull away, she felt one of the mens’ lips on her neck, shivering as she was repulsed.

Market day was always unpleasant, at least for Avinash, who had started to curse nonstop as he made his way to the bustling street full of vendors and such, all shouting at the top of their lungs as they try to sell their goods. He sighed and walked around the area, didn't bother to even check the stalls, before realized now he was in a rather deserted area of the city... In his opinion, it was best to be here instead in that crowdy area! Yes he wasn't too keen with the idea of being in large crowd, all those contacts with strangers...
He was walking through the street when he heard the telephatic message pleading for help. He blinked before turned to find the source of the message, which sounded like a girl's plea... A damsel in distress. Perfect. Avi was not the knight in shining armor type but still he will feel bad later if he did not come to her rescue. So he went into the dark alley where two elves were molesting a female one--typical, he thought, before he cleared his throat.
"Hey, you!" He shouted, making his voice sound furious, "take your filthy hands off my wife!" Avi said again; he took an arrow from his quiver and held it on his bow, aiming for the first man's crotch, "or I will simply assume you no longer want your pathetic excuse of a d*ck" he threatened as he pulled back the string of his bow, ready to fire while his eyes locked on the man's, concentrating to penetrate his mind to make him realize the wisest option was to run.

Lissa could hear a man shout to the other two. Looking over at him, she had to admit that he was good looking. However, that was not the point right now. She would wait to see what the two drunkards said before using this as an opportune time to sack the poor bastards where they deserved it. As the new man said wife, Lissa turned her head to look at him, slight shock evident on her face. She was amazed that this stranger would go so far to save her, but still, the thought of having a husband was rather shocking. It was a good thing that the drunkards were too busy looking off at the man to see her face. She thanked fate.
Looking between themselves, the drunkards saw the determined look in the man’s eyes and slowly backed away. “No need to get angry. We were only looking for a good time. She offered to pay us.” one of them laughed before they stumbled away. Lissa looked up towards the sky, her eyes closed as she thanked fate for letting her go. “Offered to pay you to leave me alone, not to rape me,” she mumbled to herself. She almost forgot about her saviour when she turned to look at him.
“Thank you kind sir. I didn’t think anyone would bother coming here.” she smiled to him. Even though he had saved her, she couldn’t be sure if she could trust him or not. Nevertheless, she wanted to trust him. There shouldn’t be ulterior motives to save a woman. Unless he was going to rape her, he would have just ignored her. However, she didn’t believe that this man would do that type of thing. She hoped that he wouldn’t. Walking over to him, she held out her hand for a simple handshake. “I’m Lissa Atines. And you are?” she smiled. She hoped that her last name wouldn’t fool her over this time. He smelled part elf, and she could only wonder if he knew of her family’s history. They were well known among the elves for being one of the very few to support the Empire. Although, she herself wasn’t in support of them.

Avinash waited, waited and waited, wanting to make sure these drunken Elves did not try anything funny with his arrow aimed at one of their crotches. He did not lower his bow until they let her go and stumbled away, before he put back the arrow into the leather quiver on his back as well as the bow, all tucked away. He made sure his cape covered them from prying eyes before offered the young woman he just saved a smile as she thanked him. She offered her hand for a handshake and though it amazed him quite a bit, to see an Elf did not bother to do the formal greeting. He took her hand and kissed the back of her hand before gently let it go, her hand felt soft against his calloused palm.
Her name though, made Avin raised his elegant eyebrows; Atines, she said? He had heard but one family with such surname and he had to admit, he had never thought there will be a day he met an Atines here in Teirm of all place. Her father was one of those important Elf he saw during his training days—he did not know him personally but he respected him because of his loyalty to their one master. He had heard rumors about his daughter, but he believed those rumors never fail to mention that the daughter was a cripple… or did he hear wrong? After all, one should never believe rumors spoken about a person one never met before.
“I was trying to escape the crowds at the main street when I heard your call. I’m Avinash” he told her, “Avinash Rajnish… What is such fine lady as you doing in such shady part of the town?” the half-Elf asked curiously, his eyes glinted under the faint ray of sun as he titled his head to a side.
meh, short post, sorry.

She watched the man as he waited for the drunkards to leave. At least he was a gentleman so far. However that still didn’t mean she could trust him. She had to know more about him before she could start to trust him. As he kissed her hand, she smiled, watching him the entire time. He really was good looking. He smelled part elf and she wondered what he favoured. She had met people that were half elf and half human and they were strange. Some had taken to their elven side and embraced it openly. Others hadn’t and preferred to be as human as they could be. She wasn’t one to judge, as it was their choice whether they wanted to embrace what they were or not. Lissa could only wonder what he had chosen.
She saw the eyebrows rise and could only hope he wasn’t angry. Some elves had actually been angry and resentful towards her, because of her known history. It was horrible. She wasn’t her father, she didn’t have any favour toward Galbatroix, but did they ask? No. She hoped that after saving her, he wouldn’t try to hurt her. She couldn’t tell by his facial features what he was thinking either. The eyebrow raise gave away that her name meant something to him, but his face was cold and straight like a rock. She smiled to him. “Nice to meet you Avinash” Looking down to the ground, she didn’t know how she could admit to what she was doing.
It was an embarrassing topic to talk about. Especially since he said ‘shady part of town’. Who would honestly look for possible jobs in the shady parts of town? Any male would easily believe that she could be a whore or prostitute if they didn’t know her history. She wasn’t sure if she should even tell him. “Looking for occupations. I need to find a job.” Lissa hated beating around the bush. It just wasn’t like her to avoid talking about something. She believed that it was her right to know what he knew about her. He didn’t have to tell her how he felt about her being an Atines, but she had right to know whether or not he was going to act or harm her.
“When I stated my last name, your eyebrows rose. Does it mean anything to you?” she eyed him warily. She couldn’t trust him, not yet at least.
