There were no words to describe this place. After travelling such a long distance over such a long period, she had felt drawn to the large castle. It just smelled of curious and unknown things that she was compelled towards. Mali had gotten bored in Teirm. There were so many Imperial soldiers, and they seemed to have caught onto her little game. She had seen the large caravan heading towards Aberon and decided to tag along. However, they wouldn’t just let anyone tag along; at least, she didn’t want to take that chance. It was hard, staying in her feline form for so long. She may be something special, but she had been raised as a human. It felt so weird to be in feline form for so long. Nevertheless, her feline charm had won over the favour of a little girl travelling with her family. She had scored a spot on the ride as well as food. It was a double bonus. Since arriving in the city, she had abandoned her ‘new home’ and started attempting to enter the Borromeo castle. It wasn’t easy and living on the streets here made her feel horrible. The place was guarded so heavily that she couldn’t even attempt at getting in; not without taking her hood off. With her hood on, she wasn’t trusted; they wouldn’t let her in if she wouldn’t show herself. She wanted in, she wanted to show herself, but it wasn’t that easy. She had to trust them enough before letting her secret go so easily. She didn’t want to risk it.
The easiest way had escaped her mind for so long that she felt like an idiot when it finally hit her. She had shifted into her feline form and hid on carts that had been transporting weapons, supplies, etc into the fortress. It was perfect, no one had even noticed her getting onto the carts, and no one had noticed her getting off. After shifting forms, she walked around, sniffing and peaking. There was so much to do in this fortress, so much which was calling out to her. It would take her ages to figure out everything that was going on.
All of the sudden, something caught her eye. It was this room, guarded, and smelling vastly like there was something worthwhile inside. Walking up to them, they immediately stopped her. Asking her firmly to lift her hood, Mali bit her lip. She wanted desperately to know what was inside. Sure, the entire place was patrolled, but no rooms she had come across so far had been guarded. She needed to know what was behind these doors. Slowly lifting her hood off, she saw the shocked looks on the guards’ faces. Smiling slightly, they stated that she would have to make an oath in the ancient language. There was an ancient language? She hadn’t heard of any ancient languages. Maybe it wasn’t that ancient, or no one ever used it. Mali repeated after them to the best of her abilities, having never spoken in such a language, only stumbling twice among the difficult vowels. Looking at her sceptically, they finally opened the doors and led her inside.
Mali walked in slowly, her eyes taking in every detail of the guarded room. It was warm, and blue. It was an odd colour for the room. Usually blue meant cold things, like water, she didn’t like water much. Looking down to the floor, her head tilted to the side in confusion. Sniffing the air, piquing her curiosity, she bent down to touch the eggs. She had no idea what would be inside an egg this big, but she wanted to know. Thinking about asking the guards, she decided that probably wasn’t the best idea. They would usher her out most likely. Picking up one of the eggs gently, a guard moved over to stop her. Mali’s eyes met his and he stopped, seeing the pure and innocent naïve aura circling in her green feline eyes. He knew instantly that she wouldn’t harm the egg. Leaning down, she sniffed it, looking at it in an odd way. What were they exactly?
