Kano was exasperated when he arrived back in Aberon. He was tired and on edge, but then again, he had just let his own apprentice stranded in the Empire behind enemy lines and had finished a daring rescue op. Kano should have been sleeping in, but he couldn't... His adrenaline levels wouldn't let him. He had walked all over Aberon, and now he had stopped in front of the outside entrance to the egg chamber. He wished for his life to change, but he didn't see himself going anywhere in the military or amongst civilian life. He needed something that would keep him moving. It didn't help that one of his friends had been kidnapped.
He was confused. Kano knew who he was, but he wasn't sure of the path he should have taken. He was angry that the young rider who had been his friend had been kidnapped, but he didn't pursue the culprit. He never had any patience for kidnappers. Usually they were the lowest scum you could find.
Kano, while pulling himself on his thoughts, approached the egg chamber. He walked through the halls, his mind still trailing along and wandering back to his past again. They said that going back to your roots would help you determine ones past. He was finding it helpful. He had always been alone, no friends to speak of. He had been determined to be stronger than they had ever thought he was. He worked as hard as he could at whatever he did, but it didn't mean he always succeeded. He was persistent, and that was his strong point... Kano just didn't give up easilly, he fought down to the last breath.
He arrived where the guards were and he bowed in respect to them.
"Stand where you are and swear your allegiance to the Varden."
Kano did as such, and the guard nodded to him. "Very well, you may go in." Kano bowed again slightly and was quickly asked to disarm by the other guard. "Very well, but I trust that it will still be here when I return." He said as he set his bag and his dagger belt down.
His eyes squinted as he adjusted to the dim light, the sands holding several eggs, all of different colors. He found himself staring at the Eldunari that sat keeping watch, or so to speak, over the eggs which sat nestled deep in the soft sand. He ran his hand over the sand, feeling every small grain. It was fine sand, almost silt. He hadn't felt sand like it since he was in the old lakebed just east of his home village. It was soft, warm, comforting. It reminded him of home, but right as he began thinking of the desert, the presence that seemed to protrude itself over the eggs entered his mind. You have been a long time gone from your home, young warrior. Why. Kano looked up at it and blinked, confused slightly. However, he replied meekly, going to his knees and bowing slightly to the eldunari. "I have been all over Alagaesia... searching for my brother. It was why I had left my home." "And of your parents?" "My father is strong, he can support them easilly. He is a very kind hearted man with a passion for his forge." Kano replied. "Very well... you may stay."
Kano nodded and ran his hands over the eggs, feeling the warmth radiating from each of the stone-like shells. It was like a little furnace burned inside each one of them, and he couldn't have been any more amazed.
