So, now that I've unveiled this thing, what do you guys think needs to happen around here? Any brainstorming for the plot, the boards, the skins, the cannons, or... Anything else you can think of? I trust you guys more than anything, and I want to hear your thoughts.

Okay, I think I'll be the first to bring up a few topics to discuss, if I may.
First of all, will, and is this site open to new members? If so, how do you plan on advertising?
What about the dragon riders? How will they be doled out, and what are the criteria for receiving a dragon?
Are there any rules about applying for shades or werecats?
Anyway, I think that's about enough for now. Comments? Suggestions? Angmor?

Could we have a vote for who should get a dragon? The Admin would have veto power, but the members would take a poll or something?

Briae pretty much covered all of my questions. xD
To add to Elvorn's idea;
I think it'd be better if we had members put themselves on a list to say they're ready for a dragon, and then those on the list go up for vote instead of everyone, or whoever players thought worthy. That way, those who aren't ready or don't want dragons aren't in the poll.

That is what I meant. Thanks for clarifying Andy.

As for Briae's questions:
I think it's a good idea to limit shades and werecats like before, otherwise we'd end up with an army of shades rampaging across the countryside with little regard to the fact that they're so rare. It'll go like before, PM me for permission, just to keep the numbers down.
We'll be opening to new members when the totally necessary things like the rules and the plot and those sorts of things are hammered out. I also think it would help if the possibility of becoming a rider were part of the attraction, so we should probably decide on that as well. As for advertising, beyond posting on any literate board we can find, I have no idea. I have no experience in that area, so help there will be greatly appreciated.
So basically, you are suggesting that we hold an election for our riders? If so, what sort of pool would we wait for, say, three or four? Or are you saying that when someone applies to be a rider, the members vote as to yes or no? That could get to be messy when it comes to people's feelings.

Hmm... you're right, Angmor. I didn't think of that. Maybe we should just stick to the original plan where interested members post somewhere or message a staff member saying they'd like to apply for a dragon. Then, if they get approved, you would message them with the dragon's information (gender, color, etc), and tadaa, they'd be a rider.

I think that that is a good idea. The voting wasn't very well thought out. Sorry. The shade/werecat situation looks like it would work as suggested, so I have no problems, though maybe I'm just apathetic since I don't want either one myself . . . Anyway, any other ideas about the riders?

The poll thing was a good idea, but favouritism might kick in a little there especially if members knew one another outside of the site. I know I'm bad at that.
That sounds like a good idea concerning choosing new Riders, Andy. We should also probably figure out when someone is allowed to ask for a dragon so Angmor doesn't have an avalanche of posts coming in each day. Perhaps around fifty posts or so and active? Those are the usual standards...
And picking Shades and werecats is similar to getting a dragon and since they're a rare race, that should stay the same too. [/size]

I have the option of making a board that you need a certain number of posts to access, so it shouldn't be that hard. Somewhere between 30 and 50 posts I think. We've discussed this on the cbox early on, and I think it was Volcy that came up with the idea that it'd work like the destiny board on Lethrblaka, but you're just only allowed an application once a month. I think that strikes a pretty good balance between giving new members something to hope for, and not being swamped by applications for dragons every day. What do you guys think?

I think that is a good idea. That won't let people who just hop on and spam up the Destiny board with a million requests for a dragon. Which is rich coming from me.

you should make a LOT more locations

We pretty much have all the locations that were every explored in depth in the books, plus a few whose descriptions I made up based on what I thought they would be. I don't at all hold with descriptions like "An island in the eastern sea" or "A human city in the empire" As I've seen several sites use.
But maybe I'm wrong. What locations do you propose?

I think that would be a little bit too much, don't you? If we have every possible location, we would only use about 5% of it at a time. Seems like a big waste of space to me. So when you RP in the plains, you can say if you're in/near Yazuac. We don't need a whole new board for you to RP there.
