Name: Lyria Morele [Leer-iah More-el-ay) Age: 19 Race: Human Occupation: Scout/Spellcaster Other:
Appearance:
Lyria's hair is a light brown, streaked with natural golden highlights, though in the light, those highlights tend to be more copper. Her hair falls a few inches past her shoulders, the ends layered to add shape to her otherwise straight locks. It is usually left unbound, but always well cared for. Lyria's large eyes are a rich chocolate brown, laced with flecks of gold. They express her feelings clearly, so she can rarely hide her emotions from showing, even when she wishes them not to. Lyria's face is well made, with smooth skin which boasts a tan from time outdoors, and a soft, child-like look. Lyria's features are refined and feminine, a small, slightly turned up nose, slim, arching eyebrows and red lips, complimenting dark lashed eyes. A light dusting of sun-induced freckles brush her nose and cheekbones. Many call Lyria beautiful, though she considers herself to be nothing exquisite.
Lyria has a petite frame, standing a full eight inches below six feet, though she is lithe and slender. Her body is well toned, having spent much time training alongside her brother. Lyria is not particularly strong for a woman, but her stamina surpasses many others due to the fact that she runes for miles each morning before dawn. Lyria's wardrobe consists of a wide variety of clothing. She ownes tunics and pants, elegant feast dresses, knee high skirts, breeches, shirts and light hunting dresses. The colors and fabrics range from brown and green to gray-blue and black, brocade jewel tones to gauzy pale fabrics. She is most likely to be seen in a tunic and pants or skirt, along with light, flexible deer-hide boots. Lyria also wears tight, wrist-length gloves occasionally, the fingers of which are cut off at the first knuckle. The only jewelry Lyria ever wears are a ring, crafted of fine silver set with a deep brown topaz, which never leaver her finger, and a teardrop shaped pendant which is engraved with swirling vine patterns.
Lyria carries only two weapons, both of which rarely leave her side. First and foremost, she ownes a bow of elven make, sung from some dark wood unknown to her. The grip is wrapped with a thin layer of dark brown leather. Stronger than most bows, as are all of elven make, Lyria is able to keep her bow strung, holding it in a leather sling-like case on her back. Gray flighted arrows are packed securely into a quiver, also on her back. The other weapon is a knife, weighted to throw as well as use hand to hand. It is sharpened on both edges, and the hilt is wrapped in leather matching the bow grip. Both the weapons were gifts, from her father and brother respectively, for her eighteenth birthday.
Personality:
Lyria has a generally sunny disposition, optomistic and light hearted. She loves puzzles and riddles of all kinds, enjoying using her mind in new and intriguing ways, and coming at a problem from all different angles. Lyria is instinctively curious, - sometimes to a fault - and she usually wants to figure things out, even if it gets her into trouble. Lyria is extremely introverted, preferring her own company and uncomfortably shy in front of people she doesn't know. She is put more at ease if the person has a honest, transparent personality, yet she is not one to instantly trust strangers. People need to prove themselves, in her eyes, to be worthy of her trust. Lyria is stubborn, even on trivial issues, though she doesn't like to argue. Lyria is a quite talented artist, and loves sketching or painting scenes and people. Innocence and youth are both words that well describe the quiet, fanciful girl.
Having trained since a very young age in archery and magic, Lyria is fully devoted to improving her skills furthur, even when she should be resting. She has been marked as an obsessive-compulsive trainer, by some. Lyria loves her chosen profession, finding neverending thrill in scouting, sneaking, tracking, and otherwise making use of her light-footed talents. Lyria has few friends outside her family, due to her constant coming and going, not a deficiency in geniality. That, however, has never decreased her close knit relationship with her brother, and aging father. Lyria is fiercely loyal, partly because she realizes that the Varden's cause is noble, but also partly because her entire life revolves around the rebellion. Her father, her brother, and her own occupations are rooted deeply in the Varden, and all three are willing to give their lives for their chosen cause.
History: [Okay, so this is short, and super lame, but I guess I'll edit it in Character Corner when I can.]
Lyria was born on a warm spring day, the second child of Elysia and Avarim Morele. She was a small infant, and stayed petite through childhood. She was born inside the safe confines of Farthen Dur into a life of relative peace and comfort. Sadly, even the strong walls and largely unknown position of the mountain in which they lived, Lyria's beloved mother contracted an illness during pregnancy that left her weakened, though she defeated it. Lyria spent much of her early childhood tagging along with her brother, and helping her mother around the house. Her father began instructing her in the art of Ranged Combat informally at the age of eight, caving in to her ceaseless begging. At that time, her mother, in her weakened state, recieved another illness. This time, Lyria's mother did not live through the disease. The remaining family was crushed, but as it always does, life slowly washed most of the pain away, and the family's normal existance continued.
Lyria's formal training began at the age of ten, when her brother, then twelve, began his training. Lyria was never far behind her brother prowess-wise, though they specialized in different areas. Lyria to the Archery Ranges, Avin to the combat field. Both, however, were gifted with magic, and both enjoyed their training together. Lyria was left home alone when her father and brother enlisted for the Varden Army when Avin turned 18, though her father still lived at home. She continued her training, setting her sights on entering the Army herself when she came of age. Her training progressed quickly, and she spent most of her days practicing, though she spent her free time drawing, sketching, or painting.
As she wished, Lyria was accepted into the Varden's Army at the age of 18, and she was placed as a scout, because of her lightfooted talents and precision marksmanship, along with her magical ability. For the past year, she has trained, traveled, and practiced as well as she can, fully enjoying the almost competetive setting of the Army. She has risen to be a fairly good scout, though she has rarely seen full fledged battle. Lyria is seen as a sweet, innocent girl, and such she is, for through training for war her entire life, she retained a certain quality of youthfull purity that surprise many older and more seasoned warriors.
