Will you be long? No, go to sleep. If I wasn’t so tired- But you are. Hush. Goodnight, Jekarta. Goodnight.
Za’lyyr could feel her fall asleep. It was so quick and so peaceful, like nothing else in the world. So much raw power at rest. He still had trouble finding himself in understanding of his situation. He was a Rider. A real, powerful rider. And now he had a name attached to his, one that he didn’t ever want to be without. He had Jekarta by his side and they were a pair that wouldn’t be separated. They were one in the same. And there was something about that fact that made him want to just crawl up in his conscious and dive around between their minds. There was so much to see. Jekarta had waited in that egg so long. So, so long and Za’lyyr had watched the riders and their dragons rise. He’d watched them fall. And he’d watched a King take hold of a land. His name would go down in the books. He was an Imperial rider, and an elf. That choice was his and always had been.
As Jekarta lulled off in sleep, Za’lyyr found himself back in the world of silence that he was so used to. The dragon’s presence at the corner of his mind was unmistakable to him, but now he’d returned himself to silence. Silence had been his companion for so many years. His feet led him through the castle, making next to no noise as he went. His mind was locked behind its solid barriers as he wandered, spiraling through the depths of the castle. He even passed the door that led to the egg chamber and his now dragon. That single door had changed so much.
It wasn’t long until he was outside, his eyes closing and a deep inhale of air filling his lungs. It felt good. Really good. His green eyes reopened and he stood still as wind moved around him. His hair used to blow around in it, but now that it was cut short, he just felt the movement through it. The elf wandered to a fountain, one he knew well. There was no water shooting from it, not at night. But the pool of water reflected clearly back at him, showing him his own face. The silence and calm made it easy to concentrate, he held his hand over the water and watched as it rose up in a few orbs. He took to playing with them idly as he looked up at the sky, examining the stars of the night.

[/b] A female voice sang while walking. The song was utter nonsense, but Arwen found that it sounded nice. So she continued to sing softly to herself. She stopped singing after she reached a certain point of the castle. Sighing tiredly, she looked around. It was quiet and boring. Everything was boring now to her. Life used to be funner when it came down to her and Eragon. Things were better back then. Murtagh and her had gotten into a rather large row and weren't exactly on talking terms. She continued to walk down the path, humming. The instant reply of her and Murtagh fighting replayed into her mind again. What had happened? Arwen shook her head, angry at her friend. He was stupid enough to question her loyalty to him and the king. He was also dead annoying when it came down to being jealous of other guys approaching her. Stupid. Arwen growled out, unable to control herself. While walking, she noticed a tall man over by the fountain. Strange. He looked awfully familiar. She began to walk closer and saw that he was using magic on the water. Arwen was mesmerized. Wow. It was absolutely beautiful. She walked closer, but made sure to make some sound. She didn't want it to sound as if she was planning to attack him. Wow. So pretty...[/b] she manged out, her blue eyes still staring at the orbs of floating water. She then noticed that he was looking up at the sky. Interested now, she then curiously asked him. Do you know how to read the stars?[/b] a smile crossed her lips as she looked at him rather innocently. She walked closer and finally stood beside him over at the edge of the fountain. With her own knowledge of magic, she quietly muttered a few indications. She wanted to try and do the same thing as this elf had done. Lifting a hand towards the water, a few blobs came up. Not as pretty as his, obviously. A small frown crossed her face as she tried another bunch of words. It smoothed out a little bit, but it wasn't that much better. She let the blobs drop with a small splash. With more of a determined look in her face, she tried again. Except this time, she didn't really use magic. She just played with the water, her hand aimlessly playing with the water. With a few words that she found useful in the large library, she managed to get a few good orbs of water into her hands. Alright, so she was cheating slightly. The words she had used had dark magic in it and it was really fun using it. Hmmm...pretty...[/b] she absentmindedly said while playing with the water. It hadn’t been hard for Za’lyyr to hear her footsteps from far off. His hearing was perfect, and the presence of a mind was even easier to find. He wasn’t worried. Within the capital, there were few people he was all that worried about. There were few people, when he thought about it, that he thought could stand against him in a fight. All of those people were easy for him to find now and they were loyal to the king, which meant they weren’t a threat to him. The footsteps were soft and light, which led him to think they belonged to a woman. The voice proved it. He didn’t glance at her yet, still fixing his gaze on the stars for the longest of moments.
When she spoke directly to him, Za’lyyr turned his head and examined her. The face was familiar. She was always trailing along Murtagh. He wasn’t sure of the details of their relationship, but then again, it wasn’t really his business. ”It’s not so much reading, as it is talking.” A faint smile played across his lips and he looked back up at the sky again. There was a rush of wind as wordless magic passed over him and swirled around them. He couldn’t help a full grin as he spoke. He didn’t know if she understood the ancient language, but he knew the stars did. ”Slytha ona, vindra.” Sleep well, friends.
His attention turned back to her as she played with the water, trying to manipulate it like he had. The magic he was using wasn’t spoken, it was wild magic that had taken him over a century to start to use. It was still dangerous, and there were still times it got loose. His mind went back to the Summit, where he’d attempted to shield as many people as he could from a blast. He didn’t have time to say anything, just throw up a wordless shield as fast as he could. He’d lost his hold on it for just a moment, but that had been long enough for the blast to feed off the magical energy and ignite further, knocking out the side of the castle.
He pushed the thoughts away and continued to watch her. He recognized the tinges of darker magic easily. Za’lyyr saw it far more often than he liked to these days. ”Your idea is right.” He reached out, his orbs of water landing back in the pool again. His hand hovered just over hers and her moved his fingers some. ”The shape is from here.” Za’lyyr didn’t really understand the concept of personal space. To him it didn’t matter… So he placed his hand over her smaller one, moving his fingers some to make hers move too. ”Think smooth. Fluid. It isn’t just water floating in the air. It connects to you, through your fingers and into your arm, through your entire body. It is the same as you.”

Ever since she had seen Eragon use it, she was amazed by it. As he spoke she gave a grin. So, he couldn't read it? Well, that was interesting. She blinked, looking slightly confused as he noted that he could talk to them. Talk? Since when did talking to the stars ever even begin? He said something in ancient language and she could the words, Sleep and friend. Huh. Curious and curiouser! Arwen looked up at the sky for a moment as she pointed up and said with a curious tone,
Are the stars alive? Like, were they once people? That one over there is the Northern Star. Over there is the Big Dipper!
[/b] She smiled brightly in the end while she snuck a peek at him. He was really good looking, she noted. He was probably old enough to be her grandfather, which was not very surprising. The last time she had visited the Elven city, she had met her freaking grandparents there! They looked YOUNG. Like, thirties young. Arwen had been so amazed that she had forgotten her manners. Unfortunately, her grandparents weren't so pretty in their personalities as their faces. They hated her. Well, love hate. They hated the way she looked, yet they complimented her in her elven looks. They were weird. Arwen shrugged off the thought before bringing herself to focus more on the water. She felt him getting closer to him. He told her that she was right, in a way. She was pretty sure he didn't add in the part where she was completely wrong in the whole spell and blob part. His hand then gently hovered over her hand. Arwen ignored the whole possibility that he might have been fliriting with her. It was a stupid idea. Besides, wasn't he a billion years old or something? So instead of being the usual human teen, she ignored the whole concept of space. Yes, even Arwen could turn the whole idea off. Though it was quite uncomfortable and weird to her, she just shrugged the idea off. Then again...perhaps she should remind him. He was probably doing it innocently anyways. Aw. How sweet, right? Of course, she kept quiet for a moment while she listened to him speak to her. He had his hand over hers now. Like, touching. Her fingers spread out like his, while her blue eyes focused completely on the water. She wasn't going to feel embarrassed at all. No. She was going to finish this first and then tell him off. She mimicked his fingers with her own fingers. She then asked, Like this?[/b] as if confirming the way to do it. She squeezed her eyes shut while she thought of smooth things. Balls of water she had seen before. Reopening her eyes, the water had risen with balls that were as smooth as glass. A smile appeared on her lips. She couldn't help but praised herself, YES! I did it! [/b] Biting her bottom lip, she then tried something else. With her mind focused on the balls of water, she then turned the balls of water into little hearts. Laughing she looked over at the elf to see his expression. Look! They're hearts now! Hmmm...what else can I make?[/b] Arwen had almost completely forgotten about him. It was his hand that reminded her that he was still there. With the nicest smile she could conjure up, she looked up at him again. Thanks for teaching me! I'm Arwen, by the way. the girl introduced herself, her fingers now reaching for his hand that was on hers. She gave it a small shake before smiling at him again. The girl then added, Um, do you always stand this close to everyone? [/b] she then quickly added, I mean, I don't mind and all, but just to tell you...not everyone likes having others standing so close.[/b] she told him in a gentle tone. Many usually would then give back a snarky comment to her. Arwen was just being nice and telling him the truth. Besides, with her big blue eyes, people would usually shut up. Switching the topic quickly was a rather bad habit of Arwen's. Instead of dwelling on one topic, she then asked with a rather curious and interested gaze. The magic that you used...how did you do it without speaking? Could you teach me, maybe?[/b] [/size][/blockquote][/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - STATUS: OMG. DONE.
