Ra'Quden glanced around him in disgust. Never had he seen such untidiness in his whole life. Soldiers barely glanced at him as they rushed to their designated areas. They couldn't see his face because of the shadow from his hood. That was a relief, if any of those humans realized he was an elf, things would get ugly. The air around him felt cold and damp, but he ignored it. A fire dwindled slowly by his feet. The night sky glowed softly with the light of many fires. Arms tense, eyes alert, he was waiting for one thing. He needed news. For two hundred years he lived in the Hadarac desert and he had been isolated from the world. Now, he needed to know if that selfish dragon rider was still king and if the Varden rats were still holed up in the mountains.
"Hey you. Come here and explain to me how you can be in the kings army and still stand there," a voice shouted behind him.
Muttering curses in a language even he didn't know, Ra'Quden spun around and glared at the officer. The man stepped back, caught unaware at the fierce, fiery gaze.
"uh, ummm, well, still, y-you can't be here" Stammered the young man.
Ra'Quden laughed. "This is going to be fun" he thought. Uttering one terrible word, the fire lit up. Sparks went shooting up in the air, lighting the area with little lanterns. shadows danced wildly around the area and the temperature rose noticeably. Ra'Quden heard that humans were very excitable and afraid where magic was concerned.
Indeed, the man was touched. His hair stood on end. His eyes rolled back in his hear and he ran screaming out of the area.

I was not in the best of moods, with the fact that my father had tried so hard to keep me in his nasty control. I laughed at him with such a cruel sound that it caught him off guard as he looked at me from across the table back home. I was no longer going to be in his control, never in a million years. I was a rider, I had control that no many held in this land. My words were still ring in his head when I left, telling him before my mother that I wanted him dead, that he was nothing to this empire but another soul to die for the war effort. I looked to the ceiling as I had heard the sound of Osiris growling and then listened as he voiced out to my father. My sister and mother had both heard as Osiris threatened his very life to be resting on his dinner platter.
I smiled at the memory, Pylar, my elf friend rode beside me on a brown draft horse, while I rode on my black war horse. We both wore cloaks, mine was black while his was brown. My hair was tied back into a black braid, touching my lower back in under my cloak. I was wearing a long sleeve tight shirt under my cloak, which was black, my normal assassin clothing and a black pair of pants which flared out over my black boots. It was my favorite things to wear, since it was what I was use to training in and also it was comfortable. Pylar stuck with wearing a pair of brown pants and a long sleeve brown tunic. His cloak was brown also, which showed that he was kind of like my worker, though no one knew that he was actually my friend and someone who helped me.
As we rode into Gil'ead, my least favorite city of this forsaken empire. I rolled my eyes as we approached, a set of guards blocking my way. I glanced up to the sky, seeing the black figure go between the clouds. I smiled slightly as I stopped at the guards, his face showed of annoyance as he looked at me. "What makes you so important, Woman?" I rolled my eyes again and then removed my hood from my face, fear engulfing his thoughts. "What makes you so imporant that you must ask stupid and unneeded questions?
I smiled as he started to stutter and I looked at Pylar and watched as he removed his hood. His old emerald eyes looked at the man, who was shocked to see a elf. His black hair was pulled back also and he then looked back at me. "Malady, would you like me to take care of this man?" I smiled at him for a moment and then glanced at the guard who had put himself up against the wall of the wall that guarded this city. I looked to the sky, hearing Osiris chuckle in my head before I let out my own chuckle. "Hmmm... Such a tempting thing, but no, I will Osiris handle that one." The man was confused and I just smiled before I headed past him and towards the city. I was ready to head home, but I knew I needed to take a look around this place, since I needed to find the next elf to help me out. As we continued down the streets, commotion was heard and I turned my head towards the sound. "You should leave it alone." I smiled slightly and headed towards the sound, glancing back at Pylar, his emerald eyes showed some slight amusement before I looked back ahead. As I approached, there was a hooded being ahead of me, a man running down the road screaming and I could not help but smile at the guard. "Now Pylar, that is a site to see." He chuckled, looking at the flames and lifting his hand before saying words in the ancient language and causing the flame to disappear, he was so strong, that much would always be known to me. Ra'Quden's eyes followed the man. Fool. Magic if nothing to be afraid of. Respect, yes, but never fear it. The fire died slowly down and the elf stared at it thoughtfully. He could have swore the fire died out by itself, but it looked like it had been doused out. Unconsciously, he rubbed his sword, or rather, what was left of his sword. Suddenly, he heard a polite cough and looked up. There stood a tall woman and the image of a man. The woman didn't catch his eye, but the other man did. An elf! How dare he come here. Ra'Quden had never felt so much hate before in his life. In his twisted mind, Ra'Quden thought that this elf must have been personally hunting for him. quickly, he killed that thought. Ridiculous! Du The fire, laying dead at his feet, sprang to life, bathing the area with a red glow.
Time, stopped
Ra'Quden seemed to have been given a moment to collect himself. An elf, in the imperial military camp. This is the lead he needed to get to the head officer. First thing first, he needed their trust, and even before that, their names. Even if he was disgusted with the creature before him, he could still be civil
The two looked expectantly at him, as if to explain what he had done. "Soldiers," he grunted, "always think that they are on the top of the world. Even in this Light-blasted land of mud, these worms think they rule." Ra'Quden laughed but it sounded hollow in his ears. His gaze continued to be fixed on the elf.
There, sorry it took so long. Life can be busy.

The man was gone, running for his worthless little life as I looked at Pylar. I knew many looked at us, but it did not matter, Pylar was my friend and known to many other as my slave elf, but I never treated him as such. He was my mentor and my friend, that much could be said and one day, he would help me get to the varden. ”One day, that time will come, Love.”
I smiled up at Osiris and glanced down at a few others who were back away and I looked at Pylar who chuckled at me slightly, his emerald eyes showed wisdom from hundreds of year. I could not wait to finish my training, each day I was getting better and I was doing water now, which was good. He wanted to teach me how to make the water circle the rock and move it around my hand like I did the two. The hood figured looked at us, but from what I saw of his face, he held shock as he looked at Pylar. The fire came back to life and Pylar lifted his hand causing the fire to settle once more with just a few mere words, showing the power he held, the strength as he pulled the fire towards his own hand, causing the fire to going into a few balls before his face. I watched with great interest as he said some more words, causing the air to surround the fire and then it was gone. ”Pylar, your power is amazing.” He looked at me, a half smile coming to his lips as he looked at me, allowing everything to disappear from sight. ”There was a reason the Varden and Elven Nation had me before I was captured.” I faked scolded him for bring up such a thing as he looked at me and nodded to me quickly. I glanced around for a moment and then looked back at the man before us. Pylar returned his own gaze, keeping a close eye on everything going on and I could feel Osiris above me, watching everything also. Pylar was powerful, that much could be told, but I wondered what was going through his mind right now. ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- I looked at the man, I felt a connection about the two of us, but I felt something, but without seeing his eyes and his face, I had no idea. I was old, I knew many things, but even I was still learning. I had used a lot of energy trying to control a fire that did not belong to me. I looked at my hand and then looked back at the man. ”Your control of fire wildly… Your emotions control your magic, you need to learn to control that, it could be the destruction for yourself and many.” I knew about this, I had seen humans and elves lose control because of their emotion and they killed many around them. Children, women, men, and animals alike, they were gone because someone lost control. I turned towards Nayeli, my eyes making contact with her own. ”Everyone knows that you will be strong, Malady, but control is the first thing you much learn.” She nodded her head towards me. I turned my head back to the man before me, waiting for him to speak with me. I was here to get information for the Varden, as Nayeli had instructed me to do without her knowing, but she knew I was. She just had no part of it. I was known as a slave elf to others around her, I went with her wherever she wished, but she knew that I could say no. She did not force me, but I chose to listen to her until the day she tells me otherwise. ”Soldiers," I chuckled slightly, looking back at a few soldier who gave me evil glares. Nayeli was laughing slightly also, the horse moving under her as she used her gentle touch to calm the horse. "always think that they are on the top of the world. Even in this Light-blasted land of mud, these worms think they rule." She nodded her head slightly, looking back at the man and nodding her head. ”And people wonder why they die all the time… None of them are trained well, they are all beyond help and they need to be executed for being so worthless.” Many of the men turned at such insults and walked away, some were fuming mad, but that was what mad Nayeli so special. They call get mad at her all they wanted, but they could not hurt her. She was a dragon rider, she was powerful, she could have them all put to death with a simple word. And if one dare touched her, they would be dead where they stood. I would not allow one single man to touch her without her permission… Like Murtagh. She was falling for that boy and that much was for sure. [/blockquote] Word Count: 840 Comments: It is okay, just got a little worried. Ra'Quden listened with only one ear. This elf thought he knew more about fire then himself. Ha. Two hundred years of isolation and certain truths are still prominent in the world. People still believe them better then others. Fire, Ra'Quden's only companion. Ever since a day so long ago that even Ra'Quden couldn't remember when, he gave up his life to study fire, ignoring all other forms of magic.
"Hmmm, well not all soldiers are this bad, the imperial soldiers, the ones that are loyal to the king, seem to handle themselves quite nicely,"
Ra'Quden paused for a moment, dreading what he said. The two seemed to be quite familiar with the surrounding area, but had a visible contempt for place and the people in it. He laughed to himself. If he wasn't mistaken, he wanted in and they wanted out. A fine thing to begin a conversation. As much as he hated the fellow elf, he might be able to learn a thing or to.
"Tell me, Friend, you seem to know a thing or two. I have been gone from the elven nation for a while. Does the same queen rule as oppose to two hundred years ago. What about the Varden? Do those low-down rats still hide in the foot hills?"

I looked to Pylar for a moment. He needed to be careful about mentioning the Varden. If we were to get down their undetected it would take time and we would have to move without others knowing. These Soldiers around were stupid, but they knew the word ’Varden’ better then they did the word girl. It was rather stupid that a man would love that word more then the other, but it was true. Galbatorix, that crazy and stupid king brain washed his men to love just that, but if they were strong enough willed, then they would be able to have their own mind, like myself. My father still loved women, but he only loved them for one reason and it honestly got on my last nerve.
I turned my eyes back on the man before us and I wondered what the man looked like. I settled my horse once again as he pranced under my feet and I turned my eyes to look at the war horse’s black ears. I tried to get into his mind, but I felt a hand on my own and saw Pylar’s eyes trained on my own. ”You are not strong enough, do not try… You will learn that another day.”
I nodded to him, my eyes returning to the elf before me as I wanted to know what he was thinking and who he was. I wanted to know how he knew so much, he was able to control magic not even made by him and it was amazing, but when I saw into his eyes, I knew the food Galbatorix had given him was still affecting me. He knew it was there, but he needed the energy from the food most of all. "Hmmm, well not all soldiers are this bad, the imperial soldiers, the ones that are loyal to the king, seem to handle themselves quite nicely," That caused my laughter to come into the air as I looked around and made eye contact to each of them. Pylar looked at me with a smile forming on his lips before he rolled his eyes. I turned my eyes back to the man and allowed my eyes to settle. ”The day any of these dogs are able to handle themselves is the day I become the Queen… At least then they will be trained with some form of manners.” I hated all the Soldiers. None of them were worthy of any life that the land had given them and I wish that they would all be placed on the front line and kill. There were only a few who had manners and those were the ones I had grown up around. Even my father was worthless, that was why one of his friends had disowned him. ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- I felt sorry for Nayeli some of the time, her father was a worthless rat and her mother was not much better for staying with the unfaithful man. Upon our return to her home, Nayeli made sure he understood this, threatening him with death and Osiris confirmed that it would happen. The fear in his eyes had caused me great amusement and it was by far better then draining the energy out of a Empire Soldier, which came in handy on the battle field. I turned my eyes back to the man, allowing them to make as much contact as I could with his hood up and then looking past him at some young soldier. I could see ambition in there eyes and I narrowed my own. ”What are ye doin’ over there, children?” They looked at me with disgust as I spoke to them and I was not at all offended. I waited for their own reply as I looked at them. Nayeli had a feeling around her, but it was mostly of anger. I glanced over to her and allowed my voice to fill the air once more. ”Calm yourself Young Rider, there is no point in getting angry at Children.” This only caused the men before to grow even more offended and I looked at with a calm gaze. ”How dare you call us Children, you blood animal! We are more of men then you will ever be.” This caused me to laugh, could not help myself as I looked at them, my heart filled with great amusement. I returned my gaze as I calmed my laughter, their eyes full of anger, but mind calm. ”When you can stay calm while being offended, that is when you can at least call yourself a boy… When you hold the wisdom of three hundred and sixty years or more, then you can call yourself young men… When you hold the knowledge of having manners, being humble, and also having the strength to kill while holding some form of remorse for the family you are hurting, then you can call yourselves men.” The seemed even more offended, but I merely just rolled my eyes and returned them to the man I was much more interested in. Who was this man who stood before me, his hood over his eyes. I wanted to know, that much was for sure. "Tell me, Friend,” Friend? This man did not know me, though at the same time, I found myself not minding his generosity. ”You seem to know a thing or two.” This gave me some reason to be more interest. He was now trying to flatter me in a way by poking at my knowledge. I did not need anyone touching the knowledge I held. Yes, I had learned a great deal in three hundred and sixty years of life, but even I was still learning. ”I have been gone from the elven nation for a while.” He was elven! I knew this now as he spoke of the elven nation and how he had been gone from it. ”Does the same queen rule as oppose to two hundred years ago. What about the Varden? Do those low-down rats still hide in the foot hills?" I stayed calm. The Varden were my friends, they were my family and I loved each one that was dear to me. Nasuada was the smartest there besides a few and my friends from the elven nation was my home. ”I guess I know a few things, but even I am unsure,” I responded to the first thing that was spoken about me. My draft horse moved slightly and I touched my mind to his own and calmed with a gentle word. But, yes friend, the beautiful Queen Islanzadi, is still the queen of the forest and the Elven Nation… And yes, the Varden are in the foot hills, however, they have moved from the mountains to the Surda lands.” Which was a rather good move by them. Nasuada was smart, I had thought that many, many years ago when I first started working for the Varden and when I met her. She was beautiful as a mere child, she grew up to be a even more beautiful young lady… [/blockquote] Word Count: 1, 182 Comments: Getting some action going on. Very good post! Ra'Quden listened intently. This elf seemed to know a great deal about current issues even though he seemed to respect the Varden. What was even more impressive was the fact that he wanted to talk, at least to him. suddenly conscious of a breeze blowing across the camp, Ra'Quden through back his hood, letting his hair dance wildly. The elf in front of him nodded, as if confirming that he was a elf. "Hmmm, well, we can only wait and see if the empire will be able to destroy this nuisance." The elf's proclamation declaring the lady a rider didn't trouble him. Rider or not, he could still fight when the need was great. That time may be in a few minutes.
Out of the corner of his eye, He saw the officer who he had chased away come back, this time with soldiers ready for battle.
Pausing a moment, the officer said, "You, the elf next to the fire, you shouldn't be here. This place is for soldiers and people loyal to the throne only. I have a authority to throw you out. With or without your consent" The man seemed afraid of him. Well, finally a human with brains.
Pulling out his sword, Ra'Quden displayed it to the officer. He looked, confused, because the hilt was the only part of the blade still left. Speaking in the ancient language, He shaped the fire into a blade-like shape and caused it to rest on the hilt.
"Try and throw me out" roared Ra'Quden.
Impressively, the soldiers charged. Shrieking curse in elven, Ra'Quden leaped over the head of one soldier and cut another in twain.
