She had to bring herself back to reality as she herself had been searching his strong build, now shirtless after they had been riding. She pulled herself from the world of wonder that was in her face and then turned to look at the horses, which had wondered to a small clearing further from the road. She motioned to it and then grabbed her cloak. Her sword was still on her hip, the cloth she had drenched with water to remove the blood and was sitting on a branch so she could grab it before they left and her daggers were also on her hips.
"I think the horses have the idea of grazing and relaxing while they have a chance to do so," She said, trying to get her mind off him long enough to think of something to do so they could get the hell out of here and to the Varden without the empire on their backs. As she got to the clearing she put her cloak on a tree and set on the ground beneath the tree, watching her horse. She had not been able to sit, relax, and watch her life long friend graze in a while. She had been so busy at her old farm working on getting her Animals to Surda and her farm to Surda she had not been able to relax for five little minutes and now that she had thirty to spar and wait to start moving again, she was not able to actually think of something to do now that they were being chased.

Elaniver continued to gaze at the spot where she had been before walking after the horses for a moment. He blinked and turned to follow her. His eyes flowing over the blood-drenched cloth and resting on her as he followed her. The horses grazing quietly as his eyes continued to be absorbed in her retreating figure. He watched her settle under the tree and wrenched his eyes for a moment before flicking his war hammer back up into his hand and seeing how he could move with the stitches now firmly in his back. He performed a few simple strikes, not really bothering to do anything all that complicated before returning his war hammer to his belt. Satisfied that he was able to move enough to be able to fight. Of course it was easier for him as he didn’t see the use in fighting fair. If there was a chance of dying then to Elaniver, it was perfectly all right to fight as dirty as you wanted.
He walked over to the tree she had settled under and leant on the sturdy trunk, looking out across the clearing before looking down at her. His eyes locking onto her again with that glazed over look in his eyes before shaking himself slightly and sitting down next to her. He rested his head against the tree trunk for a moment. Pain in his back from where the stitches rubbed against the bark. He looked over to her once more. His black eyes boring into the side of her head. Instinct told him what he must do. What he had to do. Despite only having about 20 minutes till they shipped out. He reached over with his hand and gently turned her face towards his with two fingers.

She set there looking at the horses, when she felt two large strong fingers gently turn her face around. Her steel blue eyes looking into Elaniver's black eyes, trying to find any color in them once again, even the faintest hint of brown in his iris. She did not turn anything but her face, her body was still, like a statue, but her eyes were searching his eyes for anything, for any kind of emotion other then what she was feeling. She had only known him for a few hours and here they were about to do something that she had never seen coming in this day of events. After meeting, she figured they would end up riding to Surda, at least, she thought that after they had said they were both going to Surda and then the Empire started after them, but this, this was something she was completely unaware of.
She felt her heart pounding in her chest, blood coming to her face slowly, and her breathing increase just a little as she took deeper breaths to calm herself. She knew what was about to happen and normal she would have hurt someone. She was strong, she had the ability to hurt someone, but she seemed unable to do such a thing to Elaniver.

Elaniver gazed into her steel blue eyes. The clash of colours almost seeming to blend in with one another as he stared. He slowly drew her face forwards, his heart pounding steadily against his chest with what felt like all the force of his war hammer being smashed against his ribs. He leant in closer as he drew her in closer and his eyelids started to close. Slow losing slight of her but still being able to eel her presence as they moved closer. He felt her lips suddenly press against his as they finally met in the middle and he held it there for a moment.
He kissed her firmly as he felt her lips slide against his and the two fingers that were on her chin slowly slid round her chin. He rested his palm against her cheek as he kissed her, amazed that this was happening. Amazed that all this had sparked off from following her to get across a street and into an inn. Amazed that that fleeting and one-sided meeting had resulted in escaping a city and a kiss under a tree. He continued to kiss her, reluctant to break the contact as he brought the other hand up to her chin. Two fingers resting just beneath her chin and his other palm resting against her cheek. Shocked at the emotion flowing through him. Sure he had kissed a few girls before but he was truly amazed at what he was feeling for Autumn right now.

She felt herself being pulled forward, but this was such a easy and gentle pull that she could of fought it if she wanted to, but she did not. She watched, but her eyes were already closed when his were still open. She took in a breath, a little sharply, trying to keep herself calm, but as their lips made contact, calmness was out of the question.
The ride into the inn, the sound of his voice for the first time, the meal they shared, the moment they both found out they wanted to kill the King, the escape, the rider, the wound, and now sitting under this tree. She had honestly never kissed a man, for after the murder of her father, she refused to let herself be run by a man, and now here she was under a tree, with a man she did not know at all, she had only just met him and they were kissing.
Her hand moved to his elbow, running up to his hand as she felt it on her cheek. They were rough, from years of working, but at the same time soft. She knew her hands were rough, but she hoped he would not care. She heard nothing around her, which in the back of her head, was saying this is not good. She did not care though, she was enjoying herself and not only that, this was the first time she felt like this for anyone.

Elaniver felt her hand run up his arm, but that was the only other thing he felt other than her presence and her lips on his. Nothing else existed. Not a breeze of life was around except for them there under the tree. Elaniver moved the hand that was on her cheek round to the back of her neck and gently pressed her more into the kiss. Relishing the feel of her skin on his, as they did what he never thought would happen to them that day. His senses were completely stumped. They were completely reluctant to work properly except to taste her and feel her. Her scent lingering in his nostrils as he continued to kiss her. His hand slowly lowered and rested on her thigh as his lips continued to slide against hers, her skin so soft under his lips.
Then, the real world intruded. It wasn’t fair to Elaniver, they were supposed to be ahead by several hours despite the kiss feeling as though it had just lasted an age. A shout echoed throughout the clearing as they kissed. Elaniver just about managed to comprehend what the shout meant. He didn’t think, as he was barely capable of a thing such as thought at that moment in time. He suddenly grabbed her and rolled her underneath him using his bulk to shield her. He seemed to come back to earth as the kiss broke and he heard the foreboding sound of arrows being loosed. He heard them thump around them and grunted in pain as one buried itself into his calf. He roared in pain however when another drove its way into his back. Just below the back of his left shoulder and just above the stitching that Autumn had done. He reached down for his war hammer, trying to get his bearing as the pain stabbed through him.

Time seemed to hold still as the kiss increased in wonder for her. She felt herself under him now, feeling his strong body over her as they kissed ever so gently in the clearing.
She could also not understand the shout until Elaniver roared in pain and grabbed his war hammer. She looked up, she knew that her body, small compared to him, was under him. She looked and saw the soldier who had let loose the arrow. She pulled herself from under him, her hand going for her sword and pulling it out just in time fight with a soldier. She called to her horse, a loud whistle that echoed through the clearing. Her large frisian came to her side and she grabbed her bow and quiver of arrows, flinging them over her back. She grabbed her dagger and with a quick movement stabbed the soldier, finding the perfect slot to do it. She twisted him around, grabbing her other dagger and with his back facing him, she sliced his throat, blood coming everywhere. Anger was what drove her now, they were having a wonderful moment and now they were being attacked. She pulled her sword from the ground where she had dropped it, placed one dagger back and fought the next one.
"Elan, We must get out of here!" She had never been surprised by a attack, so fear was starting to take hold. She saw the man who had shot and dropped her dagger and sword and pulled her bow out, shooting a arrow at him and hitting him right in the neck. She gave a sly smile and looked at Elaniver hoping he understood that they had better get on the horses and ride like they had never rode before. His horse was in a patch of bushes, unable to move because his reins were caught on a limb.

Elaniver’s grip finally closed around his war hammer as he felt her get out from underneath him. He flicked it up into both hand and struggled to his feet. He heard a shout from Autumn and gestured to her shouting back “get on and get mine from the bushes!” He didn’t know how to call his horse yet, he had only just met the animal. But that regardless. If Autumn went for his horse then he could keep the soldiers occupied. The arrow in his calf shot pain through his entire leg every time he took a step forward with it and whenever he moved his torso at all the arrow in his back shot pain right through him. He saw a man with a sword come at him through his slightly blurred vision from the pain. He dropped to one knee and thrust his hammer outwards into the man’s groin. Lifting as he did so and throwing the man over his head.
He threw his head back as he rose to his feet his muscles buldging as he grimaced in pain. Searching out for his horse as he jerked his war hammer into another soldiers chest. He felt the man’s chest cave in under the force and jutted the war hammer into another ones nose with a slight ‘splat’ sound. He swung his hammer round once more, the stitches in his back threatening to come loose as the hammer met with three men each on different parts of their body. He felt the main of his horse on his back as he swayed back wards and threw his hair back. Jumping onto his horse and scrambling into a riding position. “Go!” He shouted before kicking at the horses sides, hoping it would follow Autumn.

She did just that and mounted her horse and pulled his horse to him. As he mounted she kicked about the same time, grabbing her cloak as they rode by it. She placed it in front of her and placed both her daggers in there sheath as they rode. She looked forward, her mind on getting out when pain hit her from her lower back. It was burning with pure blood pain and she yelled out, tears threatening to hurt her vision. She looked back a little, seeing blood coming from her side, but nothing was there. She pulled one hand to it, feeling warm wet blood on her hand. She held her hand there, kicking her horse harder to stay with the giant war horse. She looked back, already the clearing was out of site, but she heard the men yelling and other hooves hitting ground.
She kicked her horse harder and saw the road. They had to get on the road and make it as far as they could before they stopped again. She looked ahead, her sight flicking in and out, but she forced herself to stay alert. She looked at Elaniver, seeing the arrow in his back along with the one in his calve. Pain filled her now, it was her fault, she should not of let him kiss her, not when they were in the middle of trying to get out of the place. She looked ahead, her eyes focused as far as they could see. She was not going to let those men get to them, there was no way she was going to the prison.
They rode hard for hours, kicking the horses to keep them going fast. She looked back, no sign of the men, but the sun was already low in the sky, in fact, golden rays were covering the mountain side. She knew that if they headed east, they would go through the spine and be out not far from another city. She did not want to go near any more cities, she would rather go through the spine and head south when they were on the eastern side of the spine.

Elaniver was almost asleep for the hours of hard riding, unable to keep his bearings he simply let the horse ride. Occasionally giving the animal a kick if he thought that it was slowing up. His head was lolled onto his front after the hours of evading he soldiers. He tried his hardest to remind himself of where they were, but his mind seemed slightly cloudy as blood steadily left him coupled with the constant shooting pain running through him front his back and calf. He lolled his head over one shoulder and saw nothing behind them but their own dust. Satisfied that they had probably lost the soldiers for now at least he groggily leant over and wrenched the arrow out of his calf with a grunt of pain. He flung himself back up lazily and stared at the arrow for a moment before hurling it out to the side, his hand then ventured round to his back and wrenched out the arrow in his back. It had gone in much deeper than the one in his calf and he gave a roar of pain as he pulled the arrow free. He hurled it even further than the last one this time. Hoping to try and put the soldiers off their scent slightly if they were following.
He gave a large and hard cough and find his mouth filled with blood as he coughed. He spat out the blood that had come from his lungs and continued to ignore the problem eating away at him. He leant fully back in his saddle, almost lying down on the horses back. He called over to Autumn and said “we head through the Spine to the East side then head South. If we ride none stop except for late at night we should arrive on the Surdan borders in about 3 days give or take. Providing that we avoid all the cities. Especially Dras Leona.” That was all he could manage before slumping back and closing his eyes, allowing his horse to do the rest of the work.

She listened to him speak and nodded, her own mind clouded with pain from her side. She did not know why, of course she had yet to even look at her side. She looked down, removing her which was covered in dark red blood, and then replaced it back on her side, wincing as she did so. She looked over at him, her eyes held pain but she tried to hid it so much.
"I have to look at my own injury," She was not sure if he had heard her scream hours and hours ago, but she knew that pain kept coming from it. She did not know what the Empire had that caused this kind of pain, but it hurt and she wanted to get it treated and now. She knew they had to go to the Spine and then head south.

Elaniver heard her and nodded, he could do first aid but he had never been good at indefinite healing. He flung his arms forward to get himself back to a seated position and they rode for another hour before on Elaniver’s mark turning east to travel through the Spine. Elaniver kept on looking around the floor, he wasn’t good at definitive medicine but he did know a bit about herbs. “Look around under tree’s for a clump of leaves, jagged with darker green in the middle than the edges.” He said to Autumn, still looking around the floor. It was getting dark by that stage and they had gotten about half way through the Spine in the last few hours due to the horses inability to gallop through parts of the Spine.
Elaniver’s eyes continued to search and scower the floor for the herb. If it was found then it could be soaked and used tonight. He planned on using almost all of it on Autumn. She was more important to him than not being able to take wounds. Whether she liked it or not. Most of the herbs they found would be going on her. Even if he had to tie her down, which would be difficult in any warp of life now that he was carrying these injuries. He coughed again and groggidly spat some blood onto the floor. Hoping that Autumn didnt notice, but he wasnt in any mood to try and pretend now.

Autumn felt her own injury eating her life away, it hurt so much that she did not even pay attention to what he said until minutes later when her horse came to a stop. He knew something was wrong, he could feel her in her saddle, her legs were shaking a little, her vision kept threatening to leave her, and when she heard things it was like hearing something in a cavern that she was so deep in nothing came to her clearly. She leaned over in her saddle a little, trying her best to ease the pain, but now was the best time as ever to take a look. She moved, pulling her tunic up, throwing her cloak over so it was behind her and looking at the wound.
There was a slice, at least 4 inches deep into her side and she was loosing a lot of blood. She put her tunic down, trying her hardest to keep from letting him know she was in more pain and placed her hand back on the wound and kicked her horse. She looked ahead and even with her vision faded saw the plant he was looking for.
"Here," Her voice was little above a whisper. She tried to lean over her horse a grab it, but pain shot through her and instead of staying on the horse, she fell, her whole body hitting the ground. She tried to pulled herself up, but the pain was too great. Tears streamed down her face as she moved a little.

Elaniver heard her voice and noticed how weak it was compared to her usual voice. He looked over to her just in time to see her flump onto the floor with a small ‘thud’. He shook his head vigorously to try and get his focus back as he strove to help her. Sliding off of his horse and half staggering, half limping around to her. Taking his water skin with him as he dropped down next to her onto his knees and grabbed the herb she had found. He ripped a piece of her cloak and laid it on the wound keeping the pressure on the slice as he placed the herbs on his knee and clumsily slopped water onto them. He raised the cloth momentarily to push the herbs onto the wound, it would sting a little but it would also clot the blood and help the wound to scab over, no matter how big the cut was. He ripped off a larger piece of the travelling cloak and placed the rest of the herbs o the wound. Fastening them to her with a large ripped cloth.
He lazily tied a tight knot, his vision flickering in and out as he did so. He then leant groggily over her head and brushed away some of her blond hair whispering. “You’re going to be alright. Just try and sleep. The herbs will make sure you will wake up again. Just let them do their job.” With that he grabbed every last of the herbs in the small thicket and pocketed them roughly. He then picked her up into his arms with an enormous amount of effort and staggered to his feet. Limping round to his horse where he placed her in the saddle. He slid on behind her and gently leant her into him. Reaching over precariously to grab her horse’s reigns. He then started to manoeuvre both of the horses forward. They had to make it through the Spine before nightfall.

She felt everything, heard the rip of her wonderful cloak and then felt pressure. She could barely focus, everything seemed to come at once. She could hear his voice, it was deep, rough, but to her ears, it was a wonderful sound she had fallen for. She felt her blood rushing, the stinging in her side and then more pressure as her ripped cloak was applied to it. She could think, her own body wanting to go crazy since her cloak was ripped, it had been her mother's, but not she would have to either repair it or buy a new one as soon as possible.
She felt herself being lifted and then placed on a horse, she tried to stay focus, her eyes opening only for a slip moment to see she was on Elaniver's horse and not her own. It was about that time she felt someone behind her, knowing it was Elaniver, for his strong body she felt his comforting arms. She let her eyes crack open, seeing that they started moving. She took in a staggered breath and then glancing at him as best she could.
"Thank you," Her words were weak, but she felt herself fall into a deep sleep, her body became limp, and she felt nothing but comfort.
